There are already unwritten rules for Ventrilo, such as no annoying phonetics and no duplicate accounts, and even no racism, politics, etc. Everything is common sense, but people seem to think that if these rules aren't written down, they don't have to follow them. :/ Someone left Ventrilo a little bit ago and their phonetic was "f*ck you b*stard." I have no idea who that was directed at, or why they had that phonetic, but it caught me entirely off guard. There's still some people who have drawn-out, annoying phonetics, too. The problem is, there's usually too many people on Ventrilo to remember who was there, then who left, and who has these phonetics. I can turn TTS off for who leaves and joins, but those phonetics aren't really the.. best thing to have when getting paged. This is a minor suggestion, but as the server grows, Ventrilo regulars grow, and there will be more problems.
I was always under the impression that the rules for ventrilo were basically the mod-who-is-on's discretion.
Usually that is how it goes, but often it's mentioned that "___ is an unwritten rule for Ventrilo." And there's a few users who have, for example, phonetics that moderators couldn't get them to change, simply because they didn't want to change them... Or they said that since it isn't written, they didn't have to. :/ I don't want "beeeebeeebeeebeeebeeebeeee" going off in my ear when a user pages me.
Its up to the moderators discretion. Mods like HDVortex kick for constant pages if you tell him that you're being pages. In addition, you can simply remove the ability to be paged by rightclicking your name, going down to the "Change State" tab, and unclick -Accept Pages-. If that member actually needs you, they can send you a Private-Chat and tell you that they need you.
