I happen to like the way some Ore blocks look, and could be used as fairly nice decoration if used properly.

So I think there should be a trade sign in EcoCity that will trade things such as:

    1 Diamond : 1 Diamond Ore
    1 Coal : 1 Coal Ore
    6 Redstone Dust : 1 Redstone Ore
    6 Lapis Dye : 1 Lapis Ore

Since the only minerals that are mined in Ores are Iron and Gold. I think there should be a way to exchange the minerals and recieve them back in their Ore Block form.

Although Redstone and Lapis ores drop 4-6 pieces each, you still wouldnt be able to abuse the trade to gain amounts of minerals.

So if you want to mine the ore block again is what this is for?

No, I like to use Ore blocks as aesthetic decorations, and with the way the game works, you can only do it for Gold and Iron (As they remain in Ore Block form when mined) And I would like to have a way to revert other minerals back into Ore block form and place them down as decoration.

In the spirit of the new economy, the server store could just sell the blocks, at 2 times their /sell value.

I'd rather not have them sold like that... :/ Trading seems fair, as you did work for them just like with Iron and Gold.

For the first time, i've got to say i disagree with you when it comes to the economy. I believe a fair trade is a much better choice than selling them at 2x the price, because when selling them at the server store you completely destroy any user economy. In addition, you can't buy sell diamonds to the store, so that would be a price everyone would have to(and wouldnt) agree on.

You are absolutely right Ike, I completely forgot. There is no server-price for diamonds, a straight trade would be the only fair approach. Anything else would be the de-facto price fixing of diamonds. I can't imagine that anyone would want coal ore, but there are some pretty interesting creations, so who knows? I'd agree that 6 pieces was an equivalent exchange for Redstone and Lapis ore. The only real complication I could see is that players will be able to hold between 4 and 6 times as much Redstone in the same space. For individual stores, this will be a great advantage. While Lapis could always be condensed into blocks, Redstone couldn't. This meant that a sign-store could only hold 2304 Redstone at a time. With a sign-exchange system, a store will be able to sell at least 9216 Redstone, and at most 13824 Redstone. I can't see it having a negative impact on the economy, as Redstone is pretty much a consumer good anyway. That is, a player can go the whole game without ever needing Redstone for anything.

I vote for the idea as presented by Vaal.

I think redstone ore should be 4 redstone.

Redstone ore sometimes drop 5 or 6 ores, along with Lapis. So having a trade less than 6 could make unfair profits.

Say you start with 20 redstone, trade for 5 ores (at 4 each) and you could end up with 20-30 redstone by breaking the traded ores- and would be fast, unfair duplication.

Bk, you cannot get Redstone Ore Blocks, you can only get Redstone Dust...

    Make sense?

If you mean something entirely different, then you are implying something different than you wanted to. :b
