As Grace suggested, I stayed clear of the roads, instead navigating the jungle floor. This far from the city the land was wild, untamed, but through the trees, a gleaming light in the distance kept me focused on my goal. As I approached the reactor, the silence of the night was disturbed by an haunting siren, echoing through the wind, and behind that, the shouting of men. Something was wrong. The alarm unnerved me, but I knew that this could be my only chance to find out everything. Pushing through the dense bushes, I finally got my first view of reactor. A sarcophagus of solid stone, towering into the sky. I couldn’t help but wonder how anybody believed this decrepit thing was still in use. Through the cracks in it’s crumbling stone casing, signs of life emerged, as the jungle took back what was once hers. After a brief circling of the area, I located the break in the fence, just as Grace said. A landslide seemed to have pushed right through it, yet there appeared no signs of any attempt to repair it. Perhaps nature was on my side after all. I waited patiently in the opening, but there was no sign of Grace. There was no sign of anybody. The shouting had stopped, but the alarm was still echoing throughout the entire compound. I knew that whatever I had come to see had to be inside, and with of without Grace, I was going to find it. Cautiously, I moved forward alone. A small, almost unrecognisable door laid in front of me, shrouded in overgrown foliage. I squeezed through what little opening there was, forcefully pushing the rusted door open with as much force as my body could manage. With a stumble, I crossed the entrance, into a dark, cold room. The narrow hallway in front of me was almost pitch black, but in the distance, a small humming called to me. As I moved further forward, the sounds of the alarms faded away, until all I could hear was the humming.I turned the corner, and in front of me, I found my answers. Nothing. The entire building was empty. Stripped bare. And then I felt it. The sharp, stinging pain on the back on my head. I raised a hand to it. Blood. Before I could process what had happened to me, I was already on the floor. I closed my eyes, and everything went dark...
