well these people were bugging me just following me around and begging for stuff and trying to buy plots of me that weren't there so i got a little anoid and decided to get my own back by selling them a plot.... outside the city border for 500$ they didn't know w it was outside the border i did pay them back of course but i did so without them noticing anyways i let them start building on there new plot then finaly when they were dont i went in and destroyed it because it was in the wild and i could lol im mean who thinks we should have a forums page especially for pranks like this? also make it a forums game post what you think of this!
I don't see the humor here....? What you did essentially was troll and scam these individuals. Whatever the reason for doing it, it is my opinion that what you did was wrong. You may have returned their money, but you then decided to grief their work. Im assuming that there was still time and money spent by the users to build. Really the only thing truly amusing here is that you acctually posted what you did. If i was either one of the users you "pranked" i would just link this post into a complaint as evidence. I hope that in the end you realize that your actions, although may not be against the rules (could be debatable), were at the least an attempt to troll others and negatively impact their experience on a great server. Again, this is strickly just my opinion and in no way an attemt to mini mod the sitation. However im interested in seeing other responses to this and whether anyone feels sImilar. Thanks.
+1 if you sold them a plot in the wild, just sell them a plot in the town. What you did wqs uncalled for and completely unneccasry
This is called Harassement and trolling. It is not allowed on ECC, now with your pictures, you have a high chance of getting banned if they decide to report you. If someone is following you and annoying you, msg a moderator or simply teleport to spawn and then come back there in 5 minutes. Imagine if you where them, would you like getting trolled and griefed by the own person who tried to "help" you? I suggest you to pay them back the money of their building (not the plot) and their work spend on it, they could make a complaint on you.
they were harassing me and got all of there materials back and were already in that town beforehand i also placed there plot somewhere they could see the town border if i tpd to spawn what of it they are in the town standing outside my windows and in local chat even they found it amusing afterwards and it wasn't scamming because they got money back, true making someone think they are inside town borders is a minor troll but in no way is it harassment due to the fact it was to get them to stop trolling me by taking turns asking for plots and then saying there is all that land to make plots in (not screenshotted ) perhaps the situation was not handled the same way you would have handled it but i do not belive that i have done anything wrong due to the fact that i pulled a prank on some people in the town that were following me around asking for money and items and i do not beleve that i have any reason to be banned because basickly i got someone to build a house in the wild
While they were harassing you, that doesn't give you the right to troll them back. I'm not 100% sure this is against any rules, but it's still not something I would be doing if I were you. They just wanted a plot or a way to get started on the server, and you continued to troll and grief them when you gave them a plot. These kinds of actions, while maybe or maybe not getting you in any trouble, sure get some users to not like or respect you as much, which if taken too far, you might have a hard time selling plots. This is why a mayor can practically remove a member from their town for almost any reason they want. (There are limits.) Naturally, when you scam or troll someone in a town, the word spreads about the 'bad' mayor and nobody buys plots anymore. You are only hurting yourself doing this. Lucky for you, these people were builders. Had they been residents, I can almost guarantee that word would spread to many other residents/mayors that could be buyers.
I would agree that it may not be harrassment, but it was clearly an attemt to bend rules in order to troll other users. One could also argue that it was a scam since you intentionaly sold them something that was false based on your origional post. In any case it cleary states that bending the rules, in this case knowingly selling them a fake plot with the intent to grief them after, is a potential violation of the rules. Had you left it alone, there would be no real issue. The fact that you thought it would be entertaining and something worth posting for others to enjoy is the main reason i felt like something needed to be said. This server is great because of the many people who will look for every opportunity to assist new members and help them so that the community continues to grow. My hope is that when its all said and done you will have learned that trolling new users or pranking them hurts both the server and the many other users who rely on these new members to grow the economy further. I hope you understand that this is not an attack on you, just simply a way to point out that these actions are in no way benificial to the server and certainly don't warrant a forum where they can be displayed for entertainment purposes. That is all i wish to say.
it happened once but the rest of what you said i completely agree with but people are basically trying to start to go deeper into it and over analyse it but when you really think about it is what i did really that bad? i tricked someone into building a plot in the wild outside a town because they were perpously annoying me - don't over analyse it people
first use of quotes got that wrong and this was posted before i seen ajs post and aj after what you just said my only response i can think of is fair enough but i was not trying to bend the rule but looking back i now understand how you would see it that way and i posted it because i have sen other posts about pranks that got more positive comments
Ok, after reading over the topic, even though these users were as you say harrasing you, Curtis, you had no right at any point to Troll and potentially scam them (Yes I know you gave the money back, but still...). If they were harassing you to begin with, you should have reported it straight to a Moderator instead of doing what you did. Now even though this situation wasn't major, you still violated the Server Rules. I am going to consider this as a warning, if I see any future complaints about you in this specific situation (Trolling & Harassment) it will eventually lead to a ban.
