Firstly, let me say that I’m so very happy with the response to the first edition of the ECC Chronicle! It was a big surprise seeing how many of you enjoyed reading it, and I’m grateful for all of you who read it, enjoyed it and commented!

This week, we have another great issue with more staff interviews, a builder’s guide to ECC and of course we will be announcing the winner of last week’s competition. Thanks once again to our reporters who have spent a lot of their free time writing articles (which involves a lot of research!). Our fabulous graphics, again, come from the wonderful @Karin_88.

Remember, if you’d like to apply to be a reporter for us or just have a story suggestion use our HQ thread here. If you’d like to advertise with us, you can submit an application in our HQ thread here – ads currently cost $2,000ECD/edition.

I hope you enjoy this week’s edition!

@HelenDKN has given us this report on the crazy, mega lotto held the other day!
ECC held another event lotto, these lottos have been famous for large pots and unlikely winners. This time, though, brought in the highest pot ECC has ever seen. That is thanks to @BobbyBlack and @Videowiz92 collectively paying half of the main pot. Let’s start with the winner of the main pot. Andrew originally started with a 5 second extension for every ticket bought below 5 minutes remaining, after realising some would add 100 tickets at a time and extent it by a large amount, he lowered it to 1 second. Even then the extension of people buying many tickets meant that the main lotto was drawn after the Main North lotto that was supposed to be held an hour later! So, after lotto ticket spam and Andrew pretending to draw the lotto to get more money out of @BobbyBlack, the lotto was finally drawn. @Fescht won $34 million ECD with 5774 tickets! Main north was drawn and @twistedjonny won $1.5 million ECD with only 100 tickets!

Next, a report from our newest reporter, @Fr0zenTiger all about the prices of Nether Stars.

    ECC Nether Star Prices

Hi ECC! Fr0zenTiger here, with an article about the Nether Star prices on ECC!

I will be showing you the cheapest seller, the highest buyer and the average price, on every server!
    Let's start off with Main.
On Main, the cheapest (stocked) seller of this week is: @Damianspeeltmc at /warp chernotown! He sells Nether Stars for only $890 each!

If you want to sell your Nether Stars, your best choice is to sell them to @EraNow at /warp holland! He will pay you $900 for one Nether Star!
Here you have a chart of the average Nether Star prices on Main!

    On to MainNorth
On MainNorth, the cheapest (stocked) seller of this week is: @kenny0011 at /warp station5 (of course :p)! Kenny sells Nether Stars at $920 each!

If you want to sell your Nether Stars on MainNorth, @zwunder buys Nether Stars at /warp station2, and pays $900 for every Nether Star!
This is a chart of the average Nether Star prices on MainNorth!

Finally, MainEast! Although the server only exists for about 2 weeks now, it already has quite some Nether Star shops!
If you want to buy Nether Stars on MainEast, @kenny0011 is again the cheapest, at (again) /warp station5! And he pays (again) $920 for every Nether Star. :p

If you want to sell your Nether Stars on MainEast, @cashcarti3 pays $820 for every Nether Star at /warp station9!
And finally, a chart of the average Nether Star prices on MainEast!

I hope you liked this article, I might do it again next week! But let me know your thoughts about it, if you don't like it, I'll find something else to write about :)
Also, I apologize for all the tagging. If you don't want to be tagged, please let me know.

    Cove Casino
Ever had that urge to gamble, but didn’t want to lotto your money away? Have you ever wanted to visit an ECC location that oozes class and jazz? Then do we have the perfect location for you! Come visit /warp cove today, where all of your Casino needs will be met! This past month for Cove Casino has been quite busy. Recently, a new addition has been made to the casino - Deal or No Deal! Based off of the reality television show, Deal or No Deal (or DND for short!) allows the player to choose a case of their liking out of 26 available cases, and they play for their prize OR a Banker’s offer! This wonderful new addition has brought many new hosts to Cove Casino, including our Server Admins Stolio and EtherealSquid, and our CoOwner ClarinetPhoenix! Also, a new addition to Cove’s Slots (/warp slots) has been made. There is a separate section for Deal or No Deal Slots, where users can play to win a Deal or No Deal Free Play Token! How exciting! Cove Casino is also proud to announce that the first ever $1,000,000 win was won on April 8th, Harryhaz1 chose CASE 1 and WON the ONE million! Enough “ones” for ya, yet? ;) So far, he is the only winner of the $1 million, so get to /warp cove when you can to try your luck!

    Herb Farms
Do you enjoy melon or pumpkin farming as your main source of income? Introducing everyone to the largest farm on ECC, Herb! Yes that's right, larger than warp farm! Warp Herb is 5 towns long with 4 floors of melons and 4 floors of pumpkins. Each lane comes equipped with my state-of-the-art glass barriers which you can lean against for easier farming, as well as more centered farm drops! There are also chest-shops at the end of every lane so you can quick sell your crops and get right back to farming! The future of the farm is completely up to you, I’ll let you vote what floor to add next and get right to work on it. Perms for the farm are 20k for life or 5k monthly, anyone and everyone can afford to farm here! Finally, as a special promotion for the ECC Chronicle, I will be offering a week of free perms to Herb for ANYONE that asks me this upcoming weekend while I’m online. Happy farming! -Shmooged

@Karin_88 is back with more staff interviews, this time, with @a_man21.
Hello, a_man21! How are you doing today? :)
I'm doing well, thanks! Making the best of this quarantine situation I suppose.

For sure, the situation has certainly been difficult, what with having to keep indoors all the time. But hey, that could mean more time on ECC :)
Mind if I ask you a few questions about your return to staff?
    Not at all, ask away!

Thank you! When was the last time you were on staff on ECC, and what was your previous rank?
The last time I was on the staff team was from June 25, 2017 to May 22, 2019, and I was a Server Admin when I resigned. I was on staff once before that as well, from June 6, 2016 to April 22, 2017, I was a SuperMod that time when I resigned.

Oh wow, you've got quite the history with being staff on ECC! Any favorite or memorable moments that happened during any of those last times on staff?
Hmmm, I'm not sure about many specific moments, but for me my favorite part has to be the people I've met through my time on staff, a lot of whom I still keep in contact with even though its been awhile since they have been on the staff team or active on ECC. I actually met up with Ian__D IRL at a Philadelphia Phillies game a couple years ago. I'm also in a pretty active group with Clar, Imaginex, strongpelt, United, Nicit, 314, Pokeball, and MadMonster. We all met and became friends through our time on staff and its nice to keep in contact with them even though life keeps pulling us away from ECC, I hope to stay in touch with them for a long time and I consider them some of my closest friends.

Some of the moments I remember are server events that I've helped with, I remember several spleef tournaments, SG Boss battles (I was the boss several times which was tons of fun, I hope those come back), a couple elytra races, build competitions, and many others.

Have you noticed any major changes to staff since your last time on the team, such as things moderators are expected to do now, compared to back then?
Hmmm, nothing too major comes to mind, just evolving the staff practices as the server grows and changes. When ECC acquired AEM a couple years ago there was some uncertainty as to how that would go, since we got a lot of new players from AEM who were not all happy about the change, so just dealing with that. I've noticed that there are a lot more new players joining than in the past since Andrew has been doing a good job of advertising, so a lot of what staff seems to do nowadays is answer questions and help people get started.

So think back to the last time you were a Moderator on ECC, and compare it to now. Have you noticed any major changes as far as the responsibilities go?
One thing that comes to mind is switching over from TeamSpeak to Discord, I remember when I was first on the team I would process TeamSpeak applications to get people added to the TeamSpeak network, and then when Discord was introduced there was a short period where there were Discord applications before we put the invitation on the forums the way it is now.
Then the additions of Skyblock, VMR, and other servers in the network after we acquired AEM, so the team has had to split its time up between the servers to make sure everyone is able to be assisted. Not only do staff members have to know about "traditional" ECC for the main servers, but they need to know about Skyblock and VMR too in order to help players on those servers.

What is something you'd like to achieve this time on the team?
Nothing really in particular. I joined the team this time to help out with the influx of players who came due to being quarantined from the Coronavirus, but I'm hoping once that goes away I can set aside time in my busy schedule to be active on ECC and remain on the team.

With your experience and history of being on staff on the server, we hope you remain on the team as well! Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions!
No problem, thanks for interviewing me!

If you're a new player, or a returning player wanting to see how ECC has changed, check out these great 10 tips from @Karin_88 that we all should know!

Hey, new and old players! I made a video recently called "Top 10 Things a New Player on ECC Should Know About" (which you can view here: https://ecc.eco/tutorial), and I decided to write up a summary of it for this weeks ECC Chronicle. I even added a few new tips that I did not have time to bring up in the video here!

    1. Starting Out:
The best commands a new player who's just starting out should check out first are the following:
/kit starter: This gives you some iron gear and tools, and a bed. By default, ECC has two ways you can set your home: /sethome, which you can then access with /home. Then, with the bed, you'd place it down and either lie in it a few seconds, or punch it to set it. Then, to get back, you'd type /home bed.
/help money: This gives you some tips on how to make money; however, read on, as tip #4 is more about money!
/help land: This will answer the question every new player wants to know: "Is there land claim?" While yes, there is, it takes a little work to get to that point.

    2. Land Claiming:
After looking at the tips provided at /help land, you'll see there a few ways you can start off on the server. One way is you can do /wild within the main world, which we call Rising, on any of the main servers. However, if you do this, your property won't be protected. So, it's best to ask for a plot in someone's town. Wherever you decide to go, make sure you type /lock, then punch, your chests, though.
As far as actual "land claiming" goes, you have to be a Mayor rank to claim land. A friendly player by the name of @Plumberr made his own video about starting from Builder and working your way up to Mayor rank, and how to make your first town. Check that video out here:

    3. Ranks:
When in game, do /help ranks to see all the different ranks we have. You have to get the top ranks ([Resident]-[EcoLegend]) in order. With any of the ranks, you can type /help (rank name), to see their costs, perks, and find their application links.
Portals for the Nether and the End are disabled, and instead we have ranks you have to acquire in order to access them. The Nether one is Survivor, and if you do /help survivor you can find the link for the application there. The End rank is Voyager. Do /help voyager for the link.

    4. Money:
The in game currency is called EcoDollars, or ECD for short. You can check your in game balance by typing /balance or /bal. Most people gain their money by farming, fishing, or mining in the mining world. I'll briefly explain the mining world soon.
While the /sell hand command is a great tool, we do have these places called player shops, and the /market. We strongly recommend you sell to these places, as they usually offer more than the server would when you sell stuff by hand.

    5. Player Shops and the /market:
You can sell or buy almost any item to and from player shops, while getting a good deal. If you're ever looking for a place to sell or buy, we do have a neat little item search site. You can access it in game by typing /help shopdb. Follow the link that is given.

    6. Mining World:
The mining world can only be accessed by typing /warp mining. This is the place you wanna go to mine and gather resources. You'll only get xp for all ores (minus gold and iron) here, and this is also the only place where hostile mobs spawn.
Once you've gone to /warp mining, the best thing you can do next is any of these commands: /wild, /wild land, or /rtp. These places will take you to a random spot only in the world you're in. Doing those commands from Rising, the main world, will not take you to the mining world.
A good way to see what world you're in is to check on Tab (which you'd find the world near the bottom left corner), or you can type any of these commands: /getpos or /whereami.

    7. The Main Servers: Main, MainNorth, and MainEast:
We call Main, MainNorth, and MainEast "servers", but you could pretty much consider them another world, in a way. They've got some similarities and some differences, however.
The differences between those servers is your inventories, balances, the towns available, your set homes, and market stations. Otherwise, they're pretty much the same thing.

    8. The Forums and ECC Discord:
Obviously, if you're reading this, you know how to access our forums :p So, I'll briefly just mention to make sure to check out the different events and boards we have on here!
As for discord, you can get the link for the ECC discord server from the forums, or in game by typing /help discord.

    9. Enchanting:
One thing our server does different than most is we've got enchanting tables disabled. Don't be discouraged though; we've got a neat little place called /warp enchant. Once you've gained some xp from mining in the mining world, go here to enchant some tools or armor! To check your xp, you can type /xp or /exp. Once you've gone to /warp enchant, walk around and look at the signs for the enchantment you'd like. Hold the tool or piece of armor in your hand, and right click on the sign of the enchantment you'd like to put on it.

    10. Trading System:
We have a neat system that allows users to trade items. If a user has sent you a trade request, type /trade accept. A little window will pop up. If you are giving them an item, what you'll do is put the item in the top left, then click on the lime green wool. The other player will indicate when they're ready by doing the same on their side. Next, you click on the lime green wool again, and the other player will do the same. Then, the trading sequence has completed. If you are wanting to trade someone, you'd type /trade username. Then follow the instructions I just gave.

Thank you for reading! :) Make sure to check out the /tutorial if you want even more info, or check out my video for a recap here: https://ecc.eco/tutorial
