It's that time again, The ECC Chronicle is here! I can't believe this is now issue 11 - all because of the great writing team that helps to put all of the articles together. I hope you all enjoyed @LaggyTryHard's new builder feature - he has another cracker coming up in todays issue.

As a reminder, The ECC Chronicle competition is still up and running, until the 31st of August, with 2 cash prizes to be won! If you'd like to enter, you can do so here.

    I hope you enjoy today's issue :)

    Coral-Decay Flag
@kenny0011 brought another good suggestion recently (though, apparently the credit for this should go to @Videowiz92; "Full credit to Video for original idea, I'm just stealing it."). This time, he suggested that there be a flag added to the Town Control features to enable coral-fade from World Guard. What does that means exactly? Here's how Kenny explained it: "Enabling this flag as a flag for either TC or TC+ will give people the ability ot use pretty coral blocks in builds, without having to worry about placing water."
For more info see his suggestion here.

    'Staff Requests' Section Name Change
To help make the forums a little more easy to understand, @LegendaryTrio suggested that the forums section that was, at the time, titled simply "Staff Requests", be changed to "LWC & Chest Shop Removal Requests", as that's all that the "staff requests" were there, anyway. As he explained it, quite eloquently, ""Staff Requests" is not a very clear directive for new players and owners/co-owners of newly established towns, so changing the name to "LWC & Chest Shop Requests" removes some of the ambiguity that comes with the phrase "Staff Requests". In this regard, staff members do not have to explain to people as often where the section for locked items removal requests are located on the forums, and the new title matches the parent forum title concerning "Requests". Also, there is only one type of "Staff Request" (lock removals) and one application form, so there isn't much of a negative conceivable impact by modifying the forum title to something more concise and understandable.” Great suggestion, as that particular board has now been changed!

    MCMMO Fishing Change!
For all of you fisherman out there, listen up! Something major has been changed to fishing! :D @Revanrose6 took it upon herself to stand up about the "treasures" you'll get whilst fishing at a certain level, and originally suggested that those "treasures" (namely dirt, sand and string, in her suggestion) be completely removed from fishing mcmmo, and replaced with more fish, to make fishing valuable again. She said this for her reasoning of why it'd be a good idea:
"Currently a Star Rod makes less money than regular farming with a normal fortune 3 pickaxe. Fishing in general, makes very little money and you actually make LESS money the higher you get in McMMO levels.
So by doing this we can boost the profits while also removing some of the crap you get when you get higher in fishing. Its always a massive disappointment to pull sand out (Worth literally nothing unless smelted, then worth 5 cents) or to pull Dirt out (Worth 5 cents).
    "
Quite a few people had postitive reactions to this, and many voiced their opinions on why this would be a good idea. A few people (shout-out to @StoveRepairs and @Arhinman) actually took it upon themselves to do a few fishing tests, to support why the change would be good. Thankfully, the Fishing Gods listened :p As of yesterday, to quote UnitedStates2's post when he accepted this suggestion, "Fishing treasures no longer come at the expense of regular fish catches. You'll now receive both fish and treasure when you catch treasure/junk." Happy fishing, everyone!

By the Chronicles Deputy Editor and the Minewars 'Lady', @Karin_88

If you couldn’t make it to the crazy July Minewars, don’t fear! Not only did I make a short video of the craziness (which you can see here), but I also contacted the winners of this one to find out what goodies they got, and also to see their thoughts on such an insane event!

First, I talked to the two people who won two lockers this time, to see what they had to say.
@MasterNathan said this when asked what the best things were in each of his lockers: “The best thing I got from my locker was a few stacks of netherstars. I didn't make profit but it was still super fun to bid on lockers and see how high each of them got! I will definitely be joining again in the future.

@Zedoker , the other person who won two lockers (including @koko_2022 ’s jam-packed locker), said this about the best things in Koko’s locker: “Whole lot of God tools and a $175 gc. Like every god tool minus an eff10 axe”. I asked Zedoker what he was gonna do with all those god tools, and he said, “I'm planning on keeping the melon sword, and I've sold off all the rest lol”. He ended up paying out a total of 4.61 million for his two lockers, and when I found out he’d sold all those god tools, I asked him if he made his money back. His response was, “In a way yea, I sold most of them for giftcards so just need to sell those (shameful advertisement to buy my $100 gc's)”.

I asked MasterNathan if he had any tips for people who might wanna participate in Minewars in the future, and he said this, “My advice would to be to really try to think about who might have made each locker and what could possibly be in them. If there is a minimum of 200k per locker it might not be smart to bid up a locker to two mil. Only bid if you have money to spare, not your entire balance.

Next, I talked to a few of the other people who won one locker. @NESS_23 won Locker #10 for 1.4 million, and I asked him if it was his first time participating in Minewars, and he had said it was! The others, @CoalMiner4life and @Diamond_Awesome , both said they’d participated in Minewars before, but it had been a long time for them. @iSneaky said he'd participated in Minewars a bunch of times, but it was the second time he's ever won one. All of them agreed that they had lots of fun, and that they’d all either definitely, or most likely, participate in Minewars again, in the future.
I asked each of them what the best thing was in their lockers. CoalMiner4Life said, “The any choice of star tool was super nice!
NESS_23 said, “The locker was filled with netherstars and quartz so probably the netherstars.
    Diamond_Awesome said, “a giftcard.
    iSneaky said, "Jigsaws and jigsaws."

The lucky Premium Locker winner of the night was @koko_2022 , who paid out 7.2 million for his locker! I asked him what the best things were in the locker, and he said, "Prizes were 8ish stacks of dblocks and eblocks and a bunch of nstars a star hoe and a msword and 2 god keys and 200 usd in gcs :D" I also asked him what he did with the stuff he won, and he said he "kept them all, only sold the dblocks". Finally, his advice to people who want to try to bid on a future Premium Locker: "GO BIG OR GO HOME and be ready to lose money".

That’s all for the recap of July’s Minewars :) Shout-out to Zedoker, go buy some of his giftcards, if he still has some left :p

MINEWARS ANNOUNCEMENT: Summer's almost ending, but Minewars isn't! Join us August 15th at 6pm EST in MainNorth for the next Minewars! It's gonna be an end-of-the-summer bash, you gotta see it to believe it :) So show up, and have some fun with us!

@LaggyTryHard is back for Builder Spotlight Number 2, this week featuring the amazing work of @Jdawger! Enjoy!

Welcome back to the Builder Spotlight!

Your host for the night, your favorite lagbot, @LaggyTryHard
*excited applause and slightly hiccuping zoom call as we all connect*
    [IMG]

Welcome back to the show folks!
If you're new here, this is talk show where we get to know ECC's builders a little more poke around to see what they've been working on! Here, you'll be able to take a peak into the minds of a Minecraft artist and see how they create their masterpieces.

This weeks guest is a super long time player, @Jdawger!

*the zoom call crackles and Jdawger joins in*
Hey Jdawger! Welcome to the show, I'm glad you could join in!

Thanks for inviting me! How are you doing today Laggy?

Not too bad! Just the good ol days at work and it's nice to kick back and talk with some old friends.
Now for our viewers that don't know, Jdawger is a super long time player on here, way before my time. I think you joined in around 2013, is that right?

That is correct. Been here since December 15, 2013. And yes, I have that day memorized lol

Lol! Do you get that question asked a lot?

I’ve applied for staff a half dozen times, so it definitely got ingrained in my brain after a while.

Oh that's right! I forgot about all the apps that ask for it.

What were you up to back then? What was the server like?

For starters, when I first joined ECC, there was only one world for towns (the same world that would eventually be called legacy), and believe it or not, that world’s spawn wasn’t the great spawn town that jmichael built. All it was was a little area full of little wooden structures and the survival games wall in the middle of it.

I think I've seen a picture of that actually, the old spawn looked so different!

I believe so, it started off looking very similar to the one that we currently have for main city, then (if I recall correctly) changed to the one I just described as a sort of temporary spawn, then finally to the grand spawn town that archive still has to this day.

Now that I didn't know. I wonder if they're going to stick with this one or switch it up once again later on, either way, you've seen a lot of changes throughout your time on the server!

All netherrack will be replaced with gold blocks!
When did you considered yourself a builder on the server?

I believe I started calling myself a builder of ECC when I completed my first major build on the server, /warp Glistengold. I left ECC late January/early February of 2014 to do some build work on the largest MLP Minecraft server, which gave me a lot of the knowledge and experience for building. I wish I can share the name of the server, but ECC rules forbid me from sharing it, despite it being shut down since 2015.

Oh dang, I've never heard of Glistengold before. What was that town created to be?

It was supposed to be a casino, but sadly, it never got fully finished due to different projects I had on the old main server, and then it’s eventual change to archive.

Oh shoot, I gotta go check that out when I can. Fancy casinos on the server are always impressive to look at, and if its from you then its gotta be good haha!

Do you think there was there a lot of building competition around that time?

Haha. I appreciate the compliment! There definitely was some building competition back then, but I really never felt that I was competing. I was doing it for fun and not for “commissions,” so if there was some major competition, I wasn’t too much involved with it.

I felt there was more competition between types of towns rather than builds.

Hmm interesting, what do you mean by that?

I felt most of the competitions was more business oriented, like Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy’s competition to bring in more customers. In ECC, casinos towns competed with each other for attention, museums competed with each other to showcase their items, etc. Back on the old archive server, builds definitely did have some competition, but at the end of the day, it was about what the build was used for and the owner(s) rather than the build alone. The best example is the original /warp debt, arguably the most well known casino in ECC history. Many people will agree it wasn’t the best looking casino on the server, others might suggest it was the ugliest, yet it definitely had the most player traffic.

Oh that makes sense! I think we still have a little bit of that today too, but not as intense as it must have been back then.

Oh, it definitely toned down over the years, but it is still there.

Now you mentioned that once you finished Glistengold, that was the day you considered yourself a builder. Was that also a build that you think put you on the map? Or was there something else that got people to notice your talent?

The original ECCMuseum island on archive definitely was the point where people started to notice my work, However, there were a few factors that made people realize my building talents. Winning the first ever spawn town on the new main server in 2018 definitely helped my case since many players, new and old, were “forced” to see my builds when they visited spawn.

That's awesome, spawn towns are the perfect way to show off lol! Plus they come with the added benefit of being extra-large in terms of land!

I also noticed that you re-created your museum and it looks like you put a ton of effort into it. You have such a large collection of items in there, how long did it take to get all those?

For the new ECCMuseum of Main City, really not too long at all. I essentially made the new museum before lored items even were made on the new server, so it was just a matter of advertising the ECCMuseum early and buying the items essentially right away. Every time there was a new event with lored items, I legally flooded the trade channel with advertisements stating something like “if you obtain a lored item at the event and you don’t want it, the ECCMuseum is happy to buy it from you to put in our exhibits.” And it worked; I typically completed a collection of lored items the same day as the event itself. The best part is, most of the people didn’t really care for the ECD and just straight up donated the items.

It definitely helped being the only museum on main city at the time.

Oh dam! That is a really smart way to go about it, you were prepared from the start and now you got a complete collection of lored items.

Jumping into more recent times, what have you been up to? What projects do you have going on right now?

Well, I haven’t actually been on ECC in a while believe it or not due to irl stuff. I am hopefully coming back when August starts up again at the very latest. As for projects, I am still trying to maintain the ECCMusuem/possibly expand it. In addition, i am still working on my largest current project of ECC, Canterlot. Canterlot is one of the builds I helped build on that MLP server that I mentioned earlier that I worked on in 2014. The old owner of that server gifted me every build we did on that server when it officially shut down in 2015, including all the past archived build versions. The ECC version of Canterlot is almost 2 years old on Main City and consists of roughly 16 different towns. I still have at least another year of work to do on it, but now that I am building a better computer, the work should go faster.

Also, fun fact: Canterlot was once considered the largest “nation”/project on Main city for a while, and I believe was the first town to consist of more than four towns, although that last fact is unconfirmed.

Oh wow that is one massive project. Personally I've never managed to do a project larger than a single town, so seeing you tackle 16 is insane! Hopefully you'll be able to return sooner than expected, I'm excited to see the progress on there!

I think I actually teleported into one of the unfinished towns in Canterlot and the scale of it was immense. Even in its current state I could see where the project was going to go and the immersion that you could bring to it.

All netherrack will be replaced with gold blocks!
Now I love asking this question, but what keeps you motivated to keep building? You've been doing it for longer than I have at this point!

Honestly, building is a great way to relieve stress and kill some time. I’m a college student who performs with the the Marching Illini (the first and oldest college marching band for those of you who don’t know), so I’m constantly stressed. Building, while it can be stressful sometimes, is definitely a fun way of expressing my creativity and relive my real world stresses. Plus, seeing people have pleasure with my builds makes me happy; that’s why I am a performer as well.

That is awesome to hear and hopefully one day, people can explore Canterlot and get inspired off your creations too!

Now as we're running out of time, I'll throw you one last question. If you kept building for another 7 years, what would you create?

Well, Canterlot was not the only build I received from that old MLP server; I easily have enough builds there to create at least 6 more major projects. I know the next project I will be working on from Project: Brohoof (the name of my build projects in ECC that come from that server) is called Ponyville. It’s planned to be at least 20-25 towns big.

Oh my gosh, sounds like you got yourself setup for years to come!

Its been awesome having you on the show and letting us know what you got in store for the server.
    I'll cya soon Jdawger!

*wild applause as the camera pans off to the distance*
Thank you all for tuning into this weeks show! Remember to check out /warp cydonia and /warp eccmuseum on main for some awesome builds! If you want to travel back in time, /warp Glistengold on archive and see what you can find!

Hello @ImpulseIV , how are you doing today?
    I'm doing great!

Good to hear! Mind if I ask you a few questions about you recently joining the staff team?
    I don't mind at all.

    Awesome! :)
How long have you played on the server?

About 3 and a half months now.

Oh wow, you're still relatively new then! I'm guessing you haven't tried out for the staff team before then? :p
This was my first time applying.

What made you decide to try out for staff team this last round?
I just wanted to be more connected with the community and I thought it would be fun.

Are you enjoying being on staff so far?
Being on staff is better than I already thought it was going to be, [there are] amazing people on staff.

Anything memorable happen since you joined the team?
I approved the largest loan contract in ECC history, 52,000,000 ECD over 2 years.
    *EDITOR NOTE - @Revanrose6 you crazy :p*

    That is crazy! :O
Any advice for people who'd like to join the staff team in the future?

If you are interested in joining staff just be active and have a high quality of character. Meaning just be kind, mature, helpful, responsible, and an all-around good person, it goes a long way.

Sound advice :) Thanks for the interview!

Thanks to ImpulseIV for taking the time to give us an interview on his recent appointment to the staff team!

    The Road Across Main
@welikeike22 contacted Taylor and asked him to run a story in this week's issue about a crazy road that stretches from one edge of Main to the other (literally, if you try to go beyond it, you'll get the "You have reached the edge of EcoCityCraft." message!).
Starting at -15000, 67, 8979, the 3x3 road goes all the way to 15000, 67, 8979! The road was built by user @KINGHUFF , which is stated on a sign right at the beginning of the road.
Here are some pictures I captured at the beginning, middle, and end of the road!

    Beginning:

    Middle:
    End:

If you go to the beginning of the road, you'll find random players have left signs with their experiences of travelling the long path! @OtterInAOnesie said, "Was well worth the hour I spent walking." @WeirdBuilder said, "A lot of fun and an awesome project!"

We attempted to contact KINGHUFF about his project, but unfortunately he did not get back to us :( However, if he happens to in the future, we might include a short interview with him about his project, as a continuation of this article!
If you want to go see this road for yourself, either teleport to -15000 67 8979, or if you don't have the Teleport feature, ask in /ch tr for someone to teleport you to it :)

July's Events are in full swing, thanks to the amazing work of Clar, so @Karin_88 has given us a quick run down of the first tri-wizard events!

If you've missed the last two Saturday's "ECC's Tri-Wizard Tournament" server events, no worries, as there is one last one for this weekend! Coming up on Saturday, the 25th, at 2pm EST, is "The Maze". All we know at the moment about this one is from what event-runner ClarinetPhoenix posted in her July Events news post: "This isn't your typical maze, you will will be to make your way past several magical obstacles looking for prizes of all shapes or sizes. You'll want to sharpen your riddle skills for this one and perhaps brush up on your battle skills. Who knows what you might encounter in the maze!"

The first of the three events, "The Dragon", was quite the interesting one! Taking place on the /vmr server, users found they had to be teleported by a GA to the starting area, where they then had to set their respawn point by clicking on a bed. Once they got the go-ahead, everyone jumped into the end portal in the room, and they were all transported to an area in The End with equipment chests everywhere. Everyone was instructed to grab a set of iron armor, a "wand" (aka an enchanted stick with Knockback II on it), and some food. Once the event started, so did the chaos. Everyone was running around, trying to avoid the giant Enderdragon, among other various mobs that were spawning due to spawners. Sometimes, you'd come across a Witch and a Spider dueling it out! The whole point of the event, however, was to run around and collect prizes from the various chests hidden throughout the area. All-in-all, it was a pretty fun event!

The second event of the Tournament, was "The Black Lake". With this one, participants again headed over to the /vmr server and asked for a teleport to the starting area with beds, for their respawn points. Once they got a teleport, the sight people saw was pretty amazing! Standing along an edge where all the equipment chests (with iron armor, the "wand", and food) where, you could look down into a very dark lake, and see some underwater structures with lights; that's where the prize chests were at. There was also a very large building that was hard to navigate; but many chests were within there too! Again, the point of this event was to go around collecting prizes from chests. This time though, there were different "sets" you had to complete, before you'd get the prize. Sets varied in items of 3-5 things in order to complete it. Once you had all the items, you'd then have to contact Clar and she'd check out your inventory, then put you down for the prize you won. Of course, while you were down there swimming, trying not to drown, you also had to avoid various underwater mobs, such as Elder Guardians, and Drowned Zombies! Some users got distracted with pushing poor GA's @Revanrose6 and @iSneaky off the edge though; at one point, Clar even encouraged it, lol! Overall however, it was another successful, and fun, event :D

Keep watch on the forums for the official thread for this weekends event! You don't have to sign up to participate either; you just show up at the time listed, and have fun :D

**Editor's Note 7/25/20** As posted on the ECC discord's News channel, the last event in the Tri-Wizard tournament has been postponed to next weekend!

A reminder that the ECCC Reporter's Competition is still up and running!
That marks the end of this edition of the Chronicle. I hope you have all enjoyed this issue! I look forward to bringing you our next edition in 2 weeks time!
