I decided because I have a good year of Team-Speak usage inside me, I would create this little guide with a few explanations of the new Team-Speak - because I understand how confusing it can be at the very start, due to how customizable team-speak is. If you have anything to add onto it, please post below. Prior to reading this tutorial, refer to our Team-Speak rules/information. Poke Want to get a users attention? Right click their name, then select poke. This will send a pop-up message to the user, stating whatever you wrote as the message. If there's an issue in your channel, which needs immediate attention, that's an excellent example of when you should use the Poke feature. Private chats This won't get a users attention as quick as poke would, but Poke isn't made for conversations. To open up a private chat with a user, right click their name and hit Open text chat. Upon opening a chat, a new tab will appear in the box below with the users name. Channel chats Every channel has a chat you can talk in, where only users in that channel can see/type. Upon joining a channel, you should see the channel name beside the "Ecocitycraft". Use this to link things such as; E.C.C advertisements, Sales, Videos, etc. Make Complaints As Moderators, it's our job to moderate the teamspeak, and keep it clean of any issues. You can use this feature by right clicking their name, and hitting "Make a complaint". Moderators will keep alert for any complaints made, also, don't be afraid to poke a Moderator if there's an issue. If it's serious however, and no Moderators respond, take it to our complaints section here. Sound Packets Sound packs change the "Channel switched" and other sounds to the selected options tone. Using the top tool bar list of options, navigate to Self, then down to the 4th option on the list. You have multiple options, Voice (Male), Voice (Female), Default Text to Speech, and Sound deactivated. Sound pack (Male) - More of a deeper tone. Sound pack (Female) - More of a higher tone. Text to Speech - Will announce exactly what channel you go into, who joins, etc. Try it out! Sound deactivated - Turns off all Team-Speak system messages - However, doesn't remove the sound of others peoples mic, use the Mute sound option instead. Set Away Set away allows you to notify if you're away and/or busy. You can set your away status by navigating to Self on the top list of options, then down to the 5th option - "Set away." If you simply hit "Set away" in the drop down menu, this will just change your Mic/Sound status, to a little guy with a clock. If you hit "Set away status" This will allow you to set a message next to your name. Upon opening this option, you may save that message as a preset, to simply load it up later. You can also set your away status by clicking the guy with the clock right below your tool bar, right under connections, a lot more quicker of a way. Nicknames You can change your Nick-Name by either right clicking your name, and clicking the first option, or by going to Self, then Change nickname". However, please understand you must use your IGN (In-game name) at all times when using our Teamspeak server. Phonetic Nickname This feature relates back to the "Text to Speech" option, go look at the last bullet under Sound Packets above. Change your Phonetic Nickname by heading to Self, and then the 4th option from the bottom. This will allow for you to change whatever people with Text to Speech sound pack on hear you as. For example, if you change it to I like cats, it'll say, I like cats when you join the channel to whoever has Text to Speech sound pack on. Please keep this feature to your in-game name. Avatars Every user in our TeamSpeak has the ability to set an avatar to represent themselves. You can set an avatar as such by either right clicking your name, then going down to the "Set avatar" option, or by going to the 3rd option from the bottom under Self. You can also hit "Delete avatar" which will remove your current avatar set. Please keep all avatars appropriate to EcoCityCraft/Teamspeaks rules. Contacts Here you can add people to your either Friend or Blocked list. Friends list - This will turn their name green, and when they join your channels, instead of Team-Speak saying "User has joined your channel!" it'll say "Buddy has joined your channel". Blocked list - This will turn their name Red, and locally mute them in whatever channel they are in. Just as being on your Friends list, it also replaces the standard Team-Speak messages with "Blocked user has joined your channel!" You can add someone to your Buddy/Blocked list by right clicking their name, then hit Add as friend, or Add as blocked. Once they're added, you can right click them once again, where instead of the "Add as friend" option, the "Removed from contacts" option - Do this if you want to delete them off your contacts list. Right click them, and you can navigate to "Edit in Contacts" this will open a new window, allowing you to change a bunch of things relating to your contacts. What their nickname shows up to you, their phonetic nickname, mute/ignore, etc. I'll let you guys play around with this. Keep in mind Buddy/Blocked is a client side feature, meaning users won't know if you have them on your Buddy/Blocked list. Also, you can hit a shortcut to open up the "Edit in Contacts" window quicker, Ctrl + Shift + O. Offline messages A neat feature ventrilo didn't have - Allowing for you to send offline messages to people who are, well, offline. Navigate to Tools -> Offline messages, or use CTRL + O. to find this option. Here you can compose messages to send to people, and they will all bunch up in this window, sort of like an email. You can use this to arrange meetings, trades, events, etc. Keep in mind you must have the person as a Buddy/Contact prior to composing a message - Please refer to Contacts above. Recording You have the option to record your current channel, and create it into a sound file. You can start recording by either going to Tools --> Start Recording, or by simply hitting CTRL + SHIFT + R. You can stop recording by either going to Tools --> Stop Recording, or by simply hitting CTRL + SHIFT + T. Once you have hit Start recording, it'll ask you where you would like to save the file once you stop recording, pick anywhere on your computer, save, and then your recording will begin. **WARNING** It announces to the entire channel when you have Started/Stopped recording, don't spam this feature. Use this to record youtube videos about our server! Application Speak a difference language? Want to configure teamspeak general options? Navigate to the Application option! Settings -> Options -> Application. Design This option allows for you to set how Teamspeak looks to you. This is all completely client side, and will not change how others see Teamspeak. Thanks to eekelmo , annyonion, and eben48 for helping in some way! Even if you didn't know you helped, I used you.
Jets, I would like to add that you can change individual sounds via Settings > Options > Notifications. Some people like to hear channel switches, but not chat pings, and vice-versa. There are many other sound options, too, for people who want to hear some things and not others.
