Surviving the END as a new farmer

Thought I'd share what I have learnt over the last few weeks as a new END farmer:

Before you even come into the END for the first time:

• Upgrade to Void Walker

This is money well spent.
You have a better chance to survive if you can see everyone in the END.​

• Install macros

The macros I use:

• I have my 'q' key for:

/near 10000​

so as I run around, I can easily hit q every few seconds.​

• I have my '0' (zero) key for:

/warp rs​

• I have my '.' (dot) key for:

/spawn​

• A panic macro - warps me back to '/warp rs' if I get down to 3 hearts, so if you do get attacked, you might still survive.

• A macro that tells me when players join ECC - this is essential as you can see when others join.

What to do each time, before farming in the END:

• Sell all your XP before venturing into the END, as it's likely you will get killed.
• Don't bring anything in that you don't want to lose.
• Bring in your END supplies.

END SUPPLIES
This is a personal preference, but I like to bring:

• Food for the journey.
• A stack of sand - as others tend to place lava on farms or pathways.
• A stack of wood - to build/repair paths.
• End stone - how much you bring depends on if you want to build a flat base or just repair.
• If you can't do ereps, bring at least 3 diamond axes. (you could store 2 in the ender chest if you are worried you might die easily)
• A shovel (to dig up sand)
• A diamond pick axe (don't bring your best ones in case you die)
• A sword
• Some chorus fruit - this is essential (along with an axe) - I like to bring half a stack, and keep the rest safely in my ender chest.
  
• Ender chest, with the following supplies:

• More food
• A few diamond axes (how many depends how long you plan to stay)
• A spare shovel and pick axe
  
• Stack of sand
• Stack of wood
• Stacks of chorus fruit - if you are planning on farming for fruit, and not farm for flowers.

Hide your ender chest, so others don't destroy it.
Bring a new one in each time, in case it was destroyed.
If farming for flowers - store your flowers here, rather than on you, so if you die, you don't lose it all.

Farming tips
Farm as far away from spawn/end gate as possible.

This way you can exit the end before others find your farm, or kill you. You will need to upgrade to void walker to be able to do /near 10000.​

Farm fruit at off peak times. This is usually only during the 'working' week - more players are on when it's the weekend, as they're not at work or school.

Don't build a farm up in the air - others will grief it. (ask @priMELval about her obby farm)
I like to use existing farms.

Farming
This is down to your preference.
I like to use 2 farms

Flower Farm

• This farm you harvest flowers to replant.

Fruit Farm

• This farm you allow the plant to grow to full maturity, then you harvest it when all the white flowers have withered, and have a yellow dot in the centre. Some players do try to harvest the withered flowers to replant.

Flower Farm in more detail
There are different ways to set this up.

• I build mine underground, in a space that is 2 blocks high.
• I plant flowers every 4 blocks - and the block above this flower - I break so that it is 3 blocks high.
• Flowers are ready to harvest when one, two, three or four flowers grow out to the side. Don't wait for them to wither and get a yellow dot (they won't with this setup) - harvest them when still white.
• Hit the flowers with your axe, then hit the very base of the plant. Replant with a flower.
• Store excess flowers in your ender chest.

Fruit Farm in more detail

• If farming underground - the space has to be about 20 blocks high.
• Many players just flatten the surface up top, and plant.
• Plant flowers every 4 blocks.
• When the plant has withered, hit the base with your axe, and the entire plant will fall.
• Collect the fruit and /sell hand.

Tips:

• Have flowers in your left hand for quicker planting.
• In peak times - focus on farming for flowers. If you farm for fruit, be prepared to lose it all to others.
• Farm for fruit in peaceful times.
• Do your /near 10000 every few seconds to keep an eye on other END players.
• If you see a known attacker enter, harvest your fruit farm immediately, if there is time.
  
• If you are just farming for flowers, and are underground, if you escape early,they are unlikely to find your farm.
• Set a few farms up around the END.
• Don't log out of ECC when in the end - especially if confronted by an attacker - they might place lava, so when you log back in, you are in lava.
