Minecraft Name: Porkchopsandwhic Suggestion: using the @ in front of someone's name to send them a message directly if they are doing something that will result in a kick/ban from the server Reason: I was advertising for s spawn shop today and my message and 3 -4 lines in it. I have been advertising off and on for about 6 hours. in that time I supposedly received 3 warning from 2 different mods+. but since the mods where warning me in a channel I was not a part of, the warnings went unheard. This resulted in a kick. I believe if they are going to take the time to type out my name and a message warning me, then they should just use @ to send a message directly. I would have stop breaking the rules once it was brought to my attention. Any Other Information: example: Porkchopsandwhic please x y z instead of porkchopsandwhic please x y z
I warned you in trade chat, after a while you did it again and I kicked you, giving another warning. I don't see anything wrong with the way it was done, a kick is simply a warning, stop after the kick and there's no problem.
You shouldn't be warned, you should just follow the rules. So basically you knew you were breaking the rules, you just were going to do it until you were warned? You're a President, in your President application you're asked if you have read the rules, you answered yes... Then why break the rules? Isn't the question in your President application enough of a warning? Instead of complaining about how you weren't warned for the rule you were intentionally breaking, why not just follow the rule? http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/president-application.60294/
This is what moderators are for. If you break the rules and do not listen to them then they have the ability to kick you.
i did not see the warning in trade. and when i asked in donator i was told i was warned in global. i am not contesting that i did something wrong or that i got kicked. just that actually communicating to the person might be more helpfully to all parties involved. i would have and did stop at first notice of a problem. ie the kick
? sorry jet cat, i am aware of the rules now and will compile. i did not know them at the time so no i did not knowingly break the rules
Jetscat please show me where in the wiki that i broke the rules Clause I.iii: Advertising There is to be absolutely no advertising in our chat system for any kind of external product, different Minecraft server, or anything else similar to those. Except for explicitly mentioning a different Minecraft server, mentioning things such as external products is permitted. Any advertisement that is allowed on the server in any form (including, but not limited to, in-game related items/trades/store advertisements or personal livestreams that are completely ECC related) must go into our Trade Channel and follow our 3-5 minute rule on repeating.
I wasn't involved in the situation - however, you apparently did break a rule. I'm directing it at whatever rule you broke.
As others have said, it is your responsibility to follow the server rules. And speaking of - to some others that are posting/thinking of posting - make sure you are not breaking our rule(s) about flaming, disrespect, etc. on this thread. Staff take action to make sure people have fair warning(s) before any channel or in-game kick. A kick is simply another type of "warning," just upped a notch to really make sure someone notices and/or understands.
Woah woah, hang on people, no need to get all hyper about it and attack porkchop. He has a valid point, as does all the suggestions (besides trolling ones) in this forum. I agree that PM's as a standard would be better then talking in chat. Talking in chat as several downsides. 1. They can miss it, the player doesn't definitely read all the chat. 2. They could be in another channel. But with a PM, they would almost definitely see it, and have little excuse.
Hello, Personally, I warn in global 1-2 times. If the player never 'acknowledges' my warning ie: "Sorry revan." "Whoops" "I'll fix it" etc. Then after 1-2 global warnings I do in fact PM the player. BUT, that isn't always going to happen depending on the severity of the rule breaking. How many warnings/kicks given and how/where they are given is up to moderator discretion. There is currently a chat going on amongst staff, but, it is NOT likely it will be a RULE so much as a staff suggestion. Why? Ignorance of the rules is not and never will be an excuse. There is easily accessible rules and upon getting Resident you are REQUIRED to agree that you have read the rules. We have the command /rules which links you to the server rules. And we have the server rules completely laid out. I understand that some players may be doing /ch leave global out of annoyance of global chat. But, I would argue if you intend to chat in any of our chat channels besides /ch local or /pm then you should probably have global open. Like I said, if a player is non-responsive, they we may PM them and warn them there. Anyways... I feel like I'm rambling at this point... so... theres my opinion. Revanrose6
I feel I would like mods more if they acted on rule breaking like revan does this my opinion: When I get kicked without warning it pisses me off it is like getting shoved and not being able to do anything back... Mods should pm the person that let's just say spammed, "Please don't spam, only 1 post / 2 unique trade messages" and wait for a response. Then if the person continues then kick saying, "Stop spamming final warning" that would be perfect. Also on a side not I am not kissing up to revan but I hate half the mods cause they usually just kick without warning and I can't do anything cause then i'll just end up getting banned and wait a 3 day temp ban..
All mods do warn, and they do it at least a couple of times depending on what rule you're breaking and the severity, kicks never come without warnings. But, if you do notice a mod kicking for minor offenses without warnings then you may always file a staff complaint to Skylexia, because that's not how we do things. Also, your comparison with being kicked and being shoved are really weird, I would compare the being shoved to getting banned, the kick is merely a warning you will notice for sure (I've had people who didn't look at their PMs, as I do warn in PMs sometimes.) Also, for something small like this it's usually 2 kicks (Unless you overdo it). A kick isn't something to worry about, all you need to do is stop breaking the rule you got kicked for and you won't have to worry about anything.
like most things, they are blown out of proportion.... Simple answer is, don't break the rules, you know them so don't break them.
if a player is causing an issue they should be warned, and if they don't follow suite they should be kicked. Personally i think the player should be pm'd about it instead of staff going at them publicly in global as most do.
