Thread Title: Mending the Zoning Laws. Minecraft Name: OlympiansAreGods Suggestion: To mend the zoning laws so if you need permission from a town owner, if they do not reply on that thread to say they do not want that town there within 3 days then allow that user to place the town. Reason: There are a lot of inactive people with inactive towns dotted around ECC. Now the active people, have to dodge and weave all these towns, even though, they block other town spaces. I am suggesting this because I feel if the owner really didn't want a town placed there, they'd go into the thread and say they didn't want it there. It kinda gets annoying when they only open gap available and you cannot place 3 towns in the neatly lined up towns because of a 3 yr+ inactive player with the town they applied for being inactive a week after its placement.. No salt there. xD Other Information: Please accept this! xD Link to this plugin/Is this a custom addition?: Um, Forums for accepting the mayor applications and then WG for placing towns.
Having someone pop a town right next to yours just because you decided to take a 3 day+ break from ECC would be incredibly annoying. Not all long term inactive players are gone forever, for example I left ECC for close to two years and I was able to come back and see that my towns were fine. Saying that 3/4 of town spaces are taken up by this is a gross over exaggeration, neither of us know the exact number but that would be insane, -1.
I don't why that fraction popped up.. I'm sure I didn't put that, Anywho, if they're bothered about their town then they would reply. You could argue the point about the 3 day town claim notice as well.. Most inactive towns have long gone inactive owners.
You did write that, and you just edited it out a few minutes after your post, funny. Unless I read the wrong thread I'd say you edited that out to avoid being wrong. Town claims require the owner to be gone for 6 months+ or be permabanned, you're proposing that it's just a 3 day opt-out period.
No I didn't edit it out because it was wrong. I edited it because I mixed up my sentences. I meant to say 3/4 of the space around the town is filled with inactive towns. If you care to argue that I'm lying, please do /warp Poseidon and fly around. Furthermore, Yes you've summed it up. I'm proposing a 3 day opt-out period. Most inactive owners have been offline for either close to 6 months or past 6 months. So the same requirements are met as a town claim everytime.
Use a town claim or wait for the person to respond, as it currently it. It's immensely unfair that if someone doesn't respond for 3 days that they aren't given the chance to say no. 3 days is nothing. That's why town claims are 6 months, and even at that amount of time many people think it isn't long enough. The amount of reasons why someone could be gone for 3 days, a week, or even a month or two are numerous. Being grounded, having no internet, computer breaks, job and school, moving from one house to another, family emergencies, weather disasters, medical emergencies, etc. The amount of outraged users you'd get, the tension within the community, and/or people leaving because of uncontrollable IRL circumstances caused them to have no say in something related to their town (or even future plans) is just... meh.
OK that's fair, looking back on my comment I realise it seems quite hostile, I apologise for that as it wasn't intentional.
