Minecraft Name: a18greek18 Suggestion: Add the Planet Minecraft Vote back Reason: Simply, the server's population is declining and we need to re-gain some new players. Ever since I have come back to ECC I have noticed that our population is slowly getting worse, day by day, and so is our community. Something should be done about this. about this. The only negative I can see from adding this site is more nether stars added to the economy, but that will eventually sort itself out after a month of voting on the site, when we gain more players. Ever since the site was removed ECC hasn't been "The #1 Minecraft Economy Server" population wise and I think it would be nice to gain players and get around 200 at peak and 80 at off-peak again. After talking to an old GA I learned that andrew advertised a lot and paid a fair bit to gain a lot of users quickly. I don't think we need to do something this drastic, however something should be started to get the server population up. That is why I'm proposing this idea. I'm not asking for something to be done right now, I just want to notify Phys about this and let her decide what to do. This would be a long and possibly costly process for her, but if we advertise correctly and pay the minimal amount of money to get the server back to its prime (around 200 users at peak). I know that she is incredibly busy with the 1.8 update, fixing bugs, etc and I know that advertising ECC will take a while, but in the end it would be worth it. Better community, more users and more donations to help fund the server/advertising. In conclusion, the main suggestion here is to add the PMC voting site back to help us gain a few users and a side suggestion within this is to further advertise via promoted servers, etc. Phys, if you are at all interested in this and you would like some other ideas, I'd be glad to help out with this process as I know it would be stressful and time consuming. Anyway, thanks for your time and any input on this suggestion would be greatly appreciated! Any Other Information: Not linking the website because it has other server ip's on it, but it is easy to find and I'm sure most of you know about it. Link To This Plugin: N/A
It won't get us back to 200 but it will probably add up to 30 active users and a few who come on every once in a while.
I agree, but the server is in @andrewkm's name, so he would need to transfer/ open it back up again for us to use it.
Yes please! Honestly there is a drop in players. People in September and October tried to convince themselves (me included) that it was because of school and other activities that summer does not usually have. But, we must face reality. People aren't playing here anymore and there needs to be some more devoted players on here. Now, adding this voting thing might screw up the economy with nether stars, but it already is so screwed up it's worth a try. If you want to talk to me about the statement highlighted in yellow, please forum pm me. I don't want to have an argument unrelated to the topic here. Yes, it might be costly but it would gain many more players, in my opinion anyways. +1
I don't see how this could hurt but this seems like the sort of thing that Phys would have already thought about and didn't do this for a reason. If there isn't a reason not to add it, I believe that this would help the server.
The reason it was taken away was because PMC had no value or did nothing for ECC. That's what I remember. And if that's still done, even though it may attract some players, I don't think it would be the greatest thing to do.
I know for a fact that PMC did a lot for ECC. From the times I was moderating and helping out spawn back in the day when we had PMC I would notice a lot more new players who wanted to join our community than compared to now. I know this because I talked to every one of them and a question I asked after I helped them learn the ropes is where did you find out about ECC and more than 75% of them said PMC.
-1 I just bought a tun of stars and I don't really think they need to go down in price again. That and I think it would make star tools too easy to come by.
I also used PMC to look for, and eventually find, a new home (here) after leaving my previous one. My search started back in Feb 2012...
