Thread Title: A way to help have many towns to come in the current ECC map Minecraft Name: sick24 Suggestion: Having andrew world edit in a ginormous amount of 1 layer dirt in the ECC main world. Then, proceed to split the land mass into 200x200 chunks to be claimed/sold as towns. One of the last maps drawn by andrew showed a ginormous amount of ocean land open. I think that if we could have just one layer of dirt to have towns on, it would help solve our map size problem for a while. For example. Andrew would edit in a 1000x1000x1 layer of dirt. This layer would be split up into 25 200x200 'chunks' that can be claimed by new town applicants. Instead of putting in the coords of their town posts, they would say "I am claiming chunk 15." Reason: Use our wonderful main world map more efficiently Other Information: Maybe you could charge a higher fee for claiming one of these as opposed to creating a brand new town Link to this plugin: I would suppose world edit if anything located here
And the border to know where the border is for the chunks could have a 2x200 layer of cobble in between each town, so the border of your town is cobble.
Also he (andrewkm) could make a donation feature for claiming this, or let people with $251+ donations ($$$$) be able to claim land only just so that the new members get the good land and we get the clear land.
I actually like this idea, but I'm unclear on this; are you suggesting that you can only pick from the specific chunks? Or you can pick chunks as well as the usual method ? Either way, seems like a great idea! +1
I sure hope someone doesn't get a chunk blocked in 4 sides from other people. It sounds like in your idea, the towns will be butted up with one another. One town may be a laggy farm town 100+ blocks high right next to a town that is trying to have a natural serene look. Neighbors may not get along. Right now you can veto it if someone tries to place a town within 15 blocks of you. We just throw that right out?
You would be able to pick chunks and do the usual method Essentially yes, these are some of the drawbacks of this. But it is 100% your choice to claim a chunk and which one you claim is up to you. But this would help us become more efficient in our map usage and be able to continue with out current main world for much longer.
Since it is a voluntary situation. I would +1 it. It isn't like you are suggesting that this replace the existing way. And I am sure our community could use this to foster some pretty interesting collaberations. I agree it would be cool to take a chunk in the vast water expanse and do this. Maybe even at a premium cost since it would be "the flavor of the day". There really isn't a negative, because if you don;t like it, don't buy one there. As long as you know what you are getting yourself into, why not?
As long as there is like a space to actually pick your land opposed to be foreced to pick a plot, I think it would be pretty cool- +1. But if its all just lots, then i would have to -1 since towns like anny's town landscape is super important. But yeah overall its a good idea IMO
I severely disagree, I have yet to hear any complaints about lack of land, there is still a lot of it our there. Andrew would be interfering and disrupting the economy in a way he's never done before. If you want something on ECC, you get it. It never gets handed to you on a silver platter. If I want a town over the ocean, I'll have to buy 40,000 dirt and get working instead of being lazy. If I want a town on land, I'll go work for it and find land, I won't be lazy and ask Andrew to do a laggy worldedit so some people can get land. Land really isn't that rare yet, 10x10's are still 1k, there's a post in mayor+ whining about how low the prices are on 10x10's and how people are selling em for 800 bucks. We have plenty more options, such as clearing out Perma Banned users towns to use before I'd go to the point of butchering some dirt onto the ocean.
You, my friend, seem to be out of the loop. This is actually one of the most highly discussed issues facing our server. This issue is one of those things that the community is trying to come together to resolve before we run out of options and it becomes resolved for us.
I'm curious how I was out of the loop, I use forums more then in-game now-a-days. There's only been talk of land due to the 1.7 update, there is still land out there, including the ocean, that can be used.
Just to double check, this doesn't include world editing a layer of dirt say… onto existing towns, right?
I like the idea. Maybe could we even regenerate those chunks and flatten it via worldedit? I would definitely buy it if it was like that then.
