Suggestion: Change the swearing rule on the forums.

Reason: Because I should be allowed to talk like a normal person and be able to say "shit", and "damn", and "ass" without getting warned. These are normal expressions that I should be able to use to emphasize a point. As well as communicate with others in a normal way.

Any Other Information: Don't even try to argue the point that we will be exposing swearing to young children. If you don't know "shit" (no pun intended) and you're on an internet forum, you shouldn't even be on that website at all.

If you need to use vulgar language just to get your point across, maybe you should try expanding your vocabulary. I'm sure people who are more verbose get their message to people more clearly than those who just cuss. I sure react to elegant language more pleasantly than getting bombarded by cussing.

It is not just about whether younger players know about the words, but also about how if we allowed players to have free reign to say what they want it would risk normalising such words and the younger players may feel like it is acceptable to use them as frequently in their day-to-day lives.

Don't forget, we're not talking about teenagers who are 13+ here. They should already know that it isn't appropriate to use certain words. It is the players who are younger than that. Minecraft is a game with a lot of quite young players, people who are still learning what is and isn't appropriate in real life etc. You have chosen to play on a server that is family friendly, and one of the things which we do is limit vulgarity as much as we can. And quite frankly, your claim that you need them to emphasise your point is absurd.

Not needed IMO...swearing has absolutely no point. As said above, it is extremely easy to find other ways to bring a message across. -31415

If they can't handle a curse word, they shouldn't be on the internet period.

As well, I'm nit suggesting that I can say "shit" every two words, just to be able to use it in moderation without being warned.

Well, you didn't read my suggestion, at all. I, suggesting that I be able to talk normally, and cursing is normal. Last year in school, we had guest speakers come in and talk about writing, and sure as hell there was cursing. Frequent? No, but it was there. These people graduated in the top 10% of their class that year (seniors at our high school), mad they used the "F" word and all that other stuff I'm that story. So if you claim that their mind is feeble, you need to really try to think a little but harder before I come back at you with another reason.

Just because everyone does it doesn't make it right. The rule is in place for a reason.

But seriously though, if you need cursing to emphasize a point, the best thing to do would be to wait until you cool off before actually posting something on the forums. Think about your response. There are plenty of ways to avoid posting swear words or cursing on the forums or in game. You have to hit that "Post Reply" button, or the enter key to post the word in chat. I don't understand why the rule has to be changed to allow free-roam cursing when all you have to do is take the 30 seconds to edit the cursing out of your post for the forums or chat.

However, I do agree that mild slip-ups are ok in game and such; sometimes people cannot control their emotions as well as people would hope. Despite this, you can edit your post on the forums, and take other preemptive measures to not curse. Therefore, it makes sense why the rules are in place.

Yet most of the rules are just stating the obvious. No scamming, trolling, spamming, etc. Basically the same rules you can find on any other server, with some special rules that are tailored to ECCs system as it has developed.

Cussing usually isn't used to be "cool" but more so to express yourself differently. Cussing is a modern reality, everyone does it. I don't see how it's bad. Most "cuss words" are simply a different form of a normal word. Of course there are the demeaning and the rude cuss words but there are also rude and demeaning normal words.

If you cannot express yourself without using cuss words,
Then you need to go back to school and learn some new more descriptive words. It isn't hard to get your point across that your angry or something went wrong without swearing.

I personally have never cussed, and when I used things like "wtf" or "gdi" I mean "What the fudge" and "Gosh darn it". I have been able to express myself forcibly without using cuss words, and English isn't even my first language.

What about normal talking? I can sure as hell tell you by the time you're 21 you'll have integrated some form of swearing into your daily language. I guarantee it.

Do I swear in real life around people my own age, yes. Would I swear in front of children in real life? Of course not. So why would I suddenly do it online on a family mc server.

Chances are you've done it loads of times not realizing the age of some of the people around you... People do it ALL the time.
