Minecraft Name: nicit6 Suggestion: Revitalizing the town market by moving the "/rg addowner" and "/rg removeowner" commands to the president rank instead of the mayor rank. Reason: This would have a couple of important effects: Possibly better player retention. Players, after earning the $15,000 for Resident, see the $85,000 Mayor rank/town as a difficult goal to reach. They then find somebody to buy the town for the cost of the rank, thinking it's a good deal. Later they decide they want the town, but the $180,000 President rank is just undoable, so they decide to leave. Players would not be able to sell the town right away, encouraging both actually earning the money, as well as keeping the town. Raise in the value of land. Players wouldn't be able to buy towns off of residents or mayors for $85,000 - just the price of the town. This encourages players to buy more of their own towns or buy more ranks. Any Other Information: Obvious drawback, no comayors for mayors. But this also increases the value in working to start town communities. Link To This Plugin: N/A.
This is a good idea on the surface and to the core. This obviously has a lot of thought put into it due to the analysis of the causes and consequences if this suggestion were to be implemented. For my part, I would like to point out that towns right now as a market are extremely high in supply right now. I see 200x200 pieces of untouched land selling for $10,000 or so every day. The importance of towns should be emphasized once more.
I do think that this is a good idea. There is more than enough people as mayors and until they reach pres (me included) they can make some poor choices in who they add/remove. If this was implamented then i do believe there will be lots of mayors complaining and raging but in the end it is a very good idea.
+1/-1 +1 for reasons stated.. -1 ill never buy president rank. I mayor over alot of towns and i do like the option to bring in additional mayors as i see fit. this would also promote abandoned towns.. just blank claimed areas not being used while being unavailable to others, not all users need a town but do like the rank due to ranks being a status of wealth. [edit] i rushed my opinion and need to add something else.. this change along with a cheaper "mayor rank" that doesnt include the claimed town wouldnt be such a bad idea. it would upset some current mayors, but the old world always gets the short stick with change.
i have alot of opinions ok. currently builder and res are seen as the newer/less serious ranks on ECC. with mayor being the first rank that shows merit due to the handling of a town, its residents, and other things that come with owning a town. to remove the /add owner and /removeowner command is taking away a alot from the mayor rank. mayor rank is the big stepping stone into trust on ECC. for player retention. i dont think it would help anything. multiplayer/server based minecraft is 100% about the player to player interaction. to limit that reaction by removing the owner command removes the experiance and thus drives away people from the server. example "if i cant play with my friends why play multiplayer at all" raising the value of land.. it would work but in all the wrong ways.. the second a mayor app is approved the 200x200 town is instantly worthless due to no /addowner command.. no value on the market.. only at an additional 180k for pres rank does the land become valueable. the second town becomes the value of the pres rank. 180k. the first town does become valued at 180k as well raising value greatly, but looking back at the first reason. alot of that will never happen due to the lower player retention.
I believe part of the point of this suggestion is that building the town has become much less of a focus for people, whereas 200x200 blocks of protected land are now a cheap commodity. I'm a town-builder, and aside from @TheN00BISHPanda and a few others, I notice that not too many people stick with their towns long enough to make them work. Personally, I'm a little bit with Jacob, though... would the rationale for not having extra mayor help be that no one should need that until they have more than one town?
For a casual player, such as myself, I wouldn't want to come back to the server if I was required to achieve another rank to add or remove owners. -1
-1. I am president, but i still consider this being not the best idea, since 85k is hard enough, getting to 180k is even harder. I know many people who keep their ranks "for da kicks" and don't want to level up on purpose, why limit them? Also, what about the already added co-owners? Now, the chain. How it is: Builder ==> No town commands Resident ==> Add members + Nothing else Mayor ==> Add members + Add owners President ==> There are no more, so Add members + Add owners How you want it to be: Builder ==> No commands Resident ==> Add members + Nothing else Mayor ==> Add members + Nothing else President ==> Add members + Add owners So that one rank is the one that wont give a new command? Nah, its better to get a new command every level up. Quite a long way to get to the final command ey? Some people can afford mayor, but not many can afford president. Finally, some people just like the color green.
+1/-1 I like the idea behind it: Removing the ability to sell towns until you earn President. I have seen a few times that someone (Pres or higher) will pay a Resident to become a Mayor and sell their "Mayorial" town to the President. This leaves the Mayor with power, but no land to use that power. Also, how will the landless Mayor earn 180k without the help selling plots would give. But I don't agree that removing the 2 commands from Mayor will be the way to attain this. Maybe change the "sell town" contract format to include a statement that you MUST be a President to sell a town (but not buy one...hmmm) Actually, once you are President, you could sell ALL of your towns (or lose them if you take a 6+ month vacation *wink*) and remain a President.
-1 Towns need ownership and leadership, whether that's from an original owner or a co-mayor. To put this into perspective: Player A gets mayor, builds a town, gets tons of players to join, and then gets banned. Now this town has no leadership and falls into disrepair. In my opinion, the last thing we need are more abandoned towns.
+1 I really regret selling my mayor town, now it is sitting there owned by an inactive player who had 40k that he wanted to spend. This is a well thought out idea, I agree.
it sounds like you agree only to prevent poor decision making. that's not really the point of the suggestion.
-1. I don't want to be forced to upgrade to president just to be able to sell my town if I decide to do so. I'm not saying that I will never rank up but I rather do it in my own pace (which is a very slow one ). I also think if you have the right to own a town you should get all the stuff that goes with it. Don't get me wrong I would like a better town market but I don't think this is the right way to do it.
