[Suggestion] Rank Colour Changes

Would you propose to remove the colour changes for when you're in the SG or aether?

 

I want the purple ecomaster.

 

For example though, the tycoon colour would match the aether colour. I'm not sure how I think about having both of them being the same colour

 

For the record, I like the idea about having different colours for EcoLeader/EcoMaster/EcoLegend a lot!

 

-1 I like the way they are currently and the Orange (&6) should stay associated with high ranks.

 

I think it would be best to try and avoid colour matches. I'm sure we could get around it but just think that at the moment we have a system which isn't confusing in the slightest thanks to the [Tycoon]+ rank tags being colourful. Sure people may not like orange, but it isn't confusing. It would be a bit of a step back to replace a non-confusing system with a potentially confusing system based on a dislike for orange.

My personal preference would be to limit the changes to just EcoLeader/EcoMaster/EcoLegend. Those 3 are already distinct to President/Tycoon because of the forum medals. Perhaps we could leave President orange, Tycoon as orange + the orange/green rank tag? Then just use new colours for EcoLeader+? That would still encourage people to rank up higher in the same respect as this, but without the potential confusion?

The other potential clash that I see is with the colour of the auction channel, but that I'm sure could be gotten around/dealt with in some way?

For the record as well, I like Staff colours as they are and don't think we need to change them around. Perhaps just change dev to get around the clash with EcoLegend. As for GA & SA colours, I don't think we need to change them.

 

To respond to your points,
a) I will personally never rank to tycoon if my rank turns yellow
b) I think the change between the two color systems will confuse all players at first, and I don't know if it will make it easier to recognize ranks.
c) I don't think there's a way to counter this xD. I'm all in favor of more colors, but maybe chat changes or nickname will suffice for that.

 

Almost no one uses the aether so it wouldn't matter

 

+1, why have the colors for different worlds?

 

The colors for other worlds should only change your writing text, imo, but it doesn't change your rank color anyway, so shouldn't be too bad.

 

Also, when I first made that picture a couple months ago, I had no intention of actually having the staff colors changing, I just think there is way too much orange in chat right now, and we could use some new colors for people I don't see the point in having your color change based on the world you are in, personally.

 

Builder-Tycoon is good. I like the light yellow for Tycoon. Makes me think money, but simple.


Eco-___ colors I never liked, and I don't like the suggested ones, either. (Current colors completely lack color theory and look hideous IMHO.)

It would be nice to see Eco-___ have new, solid colors. However, making them the current Dev blue or Auction teal (VERY close to Moderator) would be really confusing.

Dark purple is really hard to read on very long ranks, so I don't think it would work very well.

I would like to see the Eco-___ ranks have "money" colors, sort of like their current colors. However, not every-other-letter mayhem with random asterisks. Aether yellow (yellow), President gold (orange), Mayor green (dark green), and Resident green (light green).

Or any similar combo. Just don't mix random teal and black colors with oranges and greens and blues... It looks terrible. Keep similar colors together but allow for.. transition to other colors. And make them more solid/single colors. (And avoid colors that are hard to read and/or similar to current important stuff, like Dev and Staff.)

 

To be completely honest, I would not rank up from president if the ranks changed color. I am considering getting ecomaster to celebrate my 2 year but I would not be interested in buying it if it was changed to a purple that you could barely read. If we were to change anything, I'd only like to see ecoleader+ usernames changed to light blue maybe but most many ecoleader+s have nickname+ anyways so I don't think it'd be a big deal.

I like the new colours, I just hate the removal of the $ symbols and the removal of color variation (blue/light green, orange/green, etc) in the higher ranks.
If we kept the $ symbols and the color variation, I'd be all for new colors.

I would prefer something like:
[$EcoLeader$]
[$$EcoMaster$$]

Really, I just would prefer if we kept money symbols and kept them orange, and we mixed the main color that made up the color of custom tag, name, etc with another color. In EcoMaster this color would be green, and in EcoLeader this color would be yellow.

Just keep the color symbols and color variation... it's incredibly dull and boring just as one color for a high rank. I wouldn't even consider getting a higher rank if it changed to just one color.


I'd also like to point out that in the picture developer is spelled wrong.

 

haha! so it is! I only spent about 3-5 minutes making the picture, and it was several months ago. Never paid much attention as I only shared the photo once in december, and then mission asked about it again a few days ago XD

 

Cool idea but the higher ranks just don't look visually appealing. -1

 

I think we should get rid of the different colour ranks in other worlds. It makes it just makes it confusing for people.
