My suggestion is for Staff that have forum gold that their sparkly name should be in the staff color. For instance anny would have a red shiny name. This can cause some confusion when people are looking in threads (especially new people) and don't recognize the blue or other colors.
I thought of the same thing when I got forum gold, but the reason we have the forum gold lite (the one without the sparkly name) is because it was impossible for a certain staff member to keep her red when she got forum gold, so the forum gold lite feature was added.
As awesome as that would be, I believe the reason we have the option to not have the gold name is because it was not possible.
I had suggested this to andrew a few months ago. His exact words were, "I'll get it up in about 1-2 weeks." I even offered to do it for him. Guess he forgot andrewkm
I've yet to see anyone post in confusion about it... Seeing who posted last doesn't really lead to worry or confusion about the person's rank or authority, as it's just most recent poster--not the post content itself. (And if they are online, you can see them on the side widget for online Staff.) Once they look at the thread/post of the Staff member with a gold sparkly name, their title is immediately shown under their name - which has to include their Staff rank (implicit rule/guideline, rather than verbal (written)). Staff members are also listed in many places, and people tend to go in search for it if they are concerned. Although I do understand the suggestion, I'm more for not forcing blue and/or red on Staff members who buy forum gold. If there is any evidence (posts, screenshots, etc) of people being confused by it, then I would be falling more to the other side of the fence. However, if it could be a choice (such as when getting forum gold or ranking up in Staff) for the color of the name + sparkle color, that would be neat. Red sparkle probably wouldn't look too great, though some people really do love red... lol.
Well I would've picked the upgrade with sparkles if I could choose to keep my name red. At least make the option for staff to change color to blue/red. In the ACP I can apply forum gold upgrade to a profile with or without sparkles; make two more options for blue and red and have GameAdmins apply those options to staff that have forum gold. Honestly it does seem a bit confusing when I see a yellow name posting as a mod. It really should be differentiated for staff ranks so as not to confuse newer players.
Lets say a staff member had forum gold. Notice how your tag just says "Spirit" it includes no rank. If a new user who doesn't know you looked, they would have no idea you are a mayor. Also, some people like Jakey have to put "Super Moderator" which kind of makef thr feature he bought less special.
