Minecraft Name: Revanrose6 Suggestion: Brand new players who have never logged into ECC, log in at the Tutorial. Reason: New players would be able to instantly be at the tutorial and learn. It would also contain the spam that generally occurs at spawns into a smaller area w/ less activity. Any Other Information: Just a thought, tell me what you think below. Link To This Plugin:
this would mean new players instantly know what to do rather than spamming chat with stupid questions. +1
I agree, however we would possibly need to moderate the tutorial world in case they are spammers or etc.
I see no issue with us simply moderating the tutorial a bit. I mean yeah, we won't have the staff farm there, but, it would be less laggy for certain staff and less annoying for the regular long term players.
Great idea, sounds good to me! Maybe also give brand new players a starting .bal of like 5k? Allow them to get started and buy a plot, tools, etc. I know when I was a builder, it took me forever to find a job and get that big push to get started. (+1)
Eh, the problem I see with the 5k is that it would 1) Go against the 'hard core economy' environment and 2) Put so much money into the economy. Lets just say 1000 new players join ECC. Half of them only play for like a half hour. They go buy crazy and such, then the 500 decide they are bored and never come back. Those players just added 2,500,000 to the economy. Without working and without intention to stay. We have had over 1,000,000 minecraft accounts login to ECC. If each of them had started with $5,000 then they would have added 5,000,000,000. Ps: Thats 5billion. That is without any effort, what so ever.
I like the idea of having new players spawning in the tutorial as it will make it much easier for them to learn, however, the tutorial's local chat is within range of the user market, which may be of minor concern, but worth noting. If the new user spawn is moved to the tutorial, it may leave spawn pretty empty, and it becomes nothing more than a portal hub with the server-ran shops. With the majority of the new users in the tutorial, I feel most people that hang around spawn without needing an exact thing, like the build shop, will just move into the tutorial and the user market's local chat. While this is just speculation at best, I still think they are valid concerns to think about. On the positive side, moving the new user spawn may encourage more users to use the user market, as if they are trying to stand in the local range of new users to help, they may also check out the shops on the side. In addition, there is also the fact they spawn in the tutorial, which is always nice and may be 'worth its weight in gold'. Just speculation at best, though it is always good to look for the hidden positives too. I mean for this post to be neutral, and just state the pros and cons for discussion in the thread. A good compromise could be to move the Spawn point onto the "ECC" lights in spawn, so new users start closer to the tutorial's gate, however, that would require a small change in the paths around spawn. Anyways, I think I rambled on way too long : Your thoughts?
Having them spawn in front of the tutorial gate may be a good alternative, however, I fear that some players wouldn't walk into the portal. I had no idea the market was so close to spawn tutorial, yet, that may be a good thing. I agree it could increase the traffic to the market place and would certainly encourage people to use the tutorial. When I joined ECC the first thing I did was go to the tutorial, yet, I know a lot of players just aimlessly wander and never seem to make it to the tutorial. I honestly think it would clear A LOT of things up if players were either spawned in the tutorial or spawned right in front of the portal. Either way, it would really improve new players experiences imo. Revanrose6
I agree that a spawn to the tutorial could possibly help eliminate many of the very basic questions that are repeated over and over. When I joined ECC, I spent a lot of time in the tutorial and in fact made many visits and believe that my game play is better for it. As for giving money to players... what??? I hope that never happens. There is the starter kits which give food and tools and if you actually go thru the tutorial should have the knowledge to start earning money right away. My .02 cents worth.
This would be very simple to set up, Andrew would have to create a new rank for this group of people to set their spawn at the tutorial, and then at the end of the tutorial he can have 'Master Promote' signs (Signs that you right click to rank up - requires a plugin) so that new players are made builders. Although - there are some cons, I used to use MasterPromote on my old server and many people didn't know how it worked (keep in mind a lot of minecraft players are 7-10 years old), so this would mean less people coming into the server.
Heh, first time I joined ECC I went to the tutorial, too. It was closed for construction... I learned everything exceptionally fast anyway. It'd be nice to have advertiser & other spam out of the main ECC spawn.
