Suggestion:
That the rules on the wiki regarding minimaps be cleared up. Be more specific. For example telling which ones are legal and which ones are illegal.
This is the rule I am talking about:
Clause 1 - Hacking and Hacked Clients
- Fly, speed, air build, teleport hacking, or any other types of hacks, are not tolerated. This includes x-ray hacking and x-ray texture packs. Using any unfair means (including glitches, bugs, and exploits) to get into server buildings is also not allowed and is unfair to other users.
- Using any clients, specifically hacked clients, which may allow you to gain unfair advantages as deemed by ECC staff is strictly prohibited.
- Users caught using any client deemed to be a "hacked client", as defined by and at the discretion of the staff, will be banned. There is no excuse for using a hacked client on EcoCityCraft whatsoever.
- Discussion of hacked clients is not allowed - we do not allow them, and therefore we do not discuss them.
Change it to:
Clause 1 - Hacking and Hacked Clients
- Fly, speed, air build, teleport hacking, or any other types of hacks, are not tolerated. This includes x-ray hacking and x-ray texture packs. Using any unfair means (including glitches, bugs, and exploits) to get into server buildings is also not allowed and is unfair to other users.

- Discussion of hacked clients is not allowed - we do not allow them, and therefore we do not discuss them.
- We allow X minimap to be used, but not Y minimap.
Or something along those lines.
Reason:
So that users better know which minimaps they can use. Recently a few users have been banned because they do not know what they can use and not use because it is not in the rules. This suggestion intends to remedy this.
Any Other Information:
Hopefully this will make the rules more clear.

The only legal one is Rei's, but that hasn't been updated to 1.7.2 or forward.
So at the moment, there aren't any legal minimaps. -
Then we should make that known. I don't see why adding a single non-changing line to the rules is so bad/difficult/confusing. If anything, the rules should be the most complete database on ecc, rather than having to ask staff everytime.

These are all cases of player/entity radars, cave finders, chest finders and spawner finders. Finding players, finding caves, finding chests and finding spawners using a tool is unfair and I don't believe we should clarify that.
What I do believe we should do is clarify that mods are included, as the rule can be slightly confusing because it says "specifically hacked clients", I think it should say something like "specifically hacking or modded clients". -
OnSceneReporter №§ℛBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Premium UpgradeI think kuke takes the cake on this. There are too many mods and things that could be out there - in addition to w/e someone could make themselves. A set of guidelines of what is not ok in broad terms works. If any player is ever confused about the rules, they should always ask a moderator, and if that specific moderator can't answer it, they should find someone or direct you to someone who can.
I also think making it clear that mods = hacked clients can be an important descriptor ot help with comprehension.-

There will never be a list of legal or illegal mods, clients, etc. because such a list is really difficult to maintain over the long term. Your best bet for determining if something you want to use is legal is to ask a GA for the most current answer on the matter, and maybe that should be stated.
"hacking or modded clients" is a little broad because not all modded clients give an unfair advantage. You'd have to clarify that further. -
Okay, I can agree with grouping together mods and hacked clients. I still would like to see the change happen as things should be as simple as possible for users to understand. Thanks for the input.

And it says "specifically" which means that only hacking clients are technically against the rules, and not modded clients that give an unfair advantage.
which should be like

Actually the problem with that sentence is the word specifically, which should be change to including, and then or not and, so you're looking at something like "Using anything, including hacked or modded clients, which may allow you to gain an unfair advantage as seemed by ECC staff is strictly prohibited"

But it covers any future possibilities as well. Reason it says specifically at the moment is because that's what Andrew wanted written when we originally outlawed hacked clients. If you wanna be super technical I would put modded clients in its own clause cause this is a hacking clause and I don't think illegal mods really are the same as hacking.

Since my previous post was done at work and I didn't have time to actually flesh out anything, the following would be my proposed rule (at least in part, I would need the staff team to fill in the blanks.)
Clause X - Use of Modifications and Modded Clients
- On EcoCityCraft, several modifications and modded clients may be disallowed, and could result in punishment similar to hacking or using a hacked client. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Minimaps that allow you to see mobs, players, caves, chests, spawners, etc.
- <insert other examples of things that mods cannot do>
- Any other modification or modded client that gives you an unfair advantage over other players.
- If you are not sure if the mod you wish to use is legal or illegal, please check with a member of the staff team before using it.
I would also change the current hacking and hacked clients rule to say including where it says specifically. This leaves room for interpretation and also room for expansion later, while keeping the distinction between mods and hacked clients clear for users, and gives the clear indication that they need to check with a member of staff if they are unsure about it.-

That is something I would like to see happen as it clears up everything I was talking about.

I don't feel that this is needed:
- If you don't think it is right, then don't use it.
- Use your common sense, does it give you an advantage?
- If you don't think it is legal, ask a moderator to confirm your suspicion.

How 'bout a link in the rules to a list of all accepted mods allowed on ECC. That way if there's a problem with then not knowing or not, they can look there.

Revanrose6 Sith LordECC Sponsor Tycoon ⛰️⛰️⛰️ Ex-EcoLegend ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Prestige ⭐ I ⭐ Gameplay Architect Premium UpgradeThere are constantly new mods being made/created that may be perfectly legal and not cause problems. At the same time, mods that once were okay could someday be updated to no longer be okay. Keeping a list like that updated would be insanely hard to do and take a long time and a lot of testing. It is much easier for us to take these types of things on a general case by case basis as well as having a general idea of what a mod is NOT allowed to do.
As for the suggestion posted, I will look into it.
Also, this is basically what we cannot allow. If a mini map does this, then it is a problem:

I would like to add only one thing. If you're playing on EcoCityCraft, you need to read the rules and understand how to follow them. Moderators and staff do not actively watch every single thing that all players do. It is each player's responsibility to evaluate their actions and make choices the follow the rules.
It takes effort, small or large, to install a mod into Minecraft. Each player is responsible for understanding what that game client modification does, and if it is in accordance with the rules of EcoCityCraft. Each player is responsible for their own conduct.
