It's really difficult to tell someone's new username without looking up their forum name so my idea is that we ingame ban people who change their name if they don't also change their forum name within 24 hours.

Thing is,
People who don't change there usernames, simply cant do anything regarding ranking up, contracts or apply for anything.
Yes its a problem in game when you see someone who you haven't seen before, but when doing contracts and things like that. Always make sure to do Forum Contracts rather then in game contracts, just to be safe.
So im on the fence with this suggestion. -
That defeats the purpose of applications - people shouldn't be able got get staff do work for them just because they don't want to file an app.
-
Well, i guess, thats fair enough. I think however, that instead of technically banning them call it a "blocked until your name confirmed". It just sounded like a punishment that needs appealing, which isnt really correct in this case.
-
Phys and I plan on talking either today or over next few days about some issues regarding name changes and I will raise this and let you know exactly how we decide on encouraging/requiring someone to change their name.

Hmm, I thought /seen would show you previous usernames.
Anywho, I'll give you guys my 2c on how to deal with this. Add this plugin, is tracks a users previous name history, and shows it all by running one command. This will be fine with players who need to check on who they owe money to, etc. -

I don't think banning the user is necessary. It seems a bit far fetched
-
Vintage_Gamer BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Premium UpgradeI believe thats why we use "@" symbols to tag the user, so if someone changes their name it can be easily traced.
-
Another issue that could arise with this is if someone where to change their IGN while under a temp ban on the forum, preventing them from filing the change app for 1-7 days, etc.
-
Hello Billy - While it is true that /seen should show previous usernames - there are instances where this is not true and so investigation is required to really know who is being dealt with.
This also still does not deal with the issue of alt accounts - those users who have cough... cough... so many accounts it fascinates.
Good to see you hanging out with us again.
Unfortunately, many recent and not so recent contracts have been approved without the @tag being required - so this will be a problem if I understand the reasoning behind it.-

Honestly that won't be a huge issue as people have their usernames posted when agreeing to the contract - just check the acceptance/agreements and compare usernames.
Don't get banned on the forum then is my personal view.
As far as the suggestion itself we were in some discussion/debate and it would not be unlikely to see a resolution shortly. -
Vintage_Gamer BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Premium UpgradeFrom my experience on staff, all instances of the username in the contract had to be tagged with @, it was in the contract guidelines.
