Minecraft Name: xOSneakyBaconOx Suggestion: Allowing the use of screenshots from applications such as Minechat and MCchat as evidence in complaints against users under certain circumstances, such as advertising Reason: Able to punish those who have clearly broken the rules, such as advertising Any Other Information: Screenshots from applications other that the desktop Minecraft should be allowed to use in evidence against users who are clearly breaking the rules such as advertising or excessive rude language. I once made a complaint against a user who was clearly advertising a other servers IP adress at spawn, I was on my mobile using MCchat, I took screenshots of him clearly advertising and posted a complaint, sadly nothing was done as you currently do not accept screenshots from MCchat and Minechat, in a case like this it should be ban worthy. Wait, its not? I thought that as long as it is an unedited screenshot it didn't matter where you got it from.
Oh my, I had no idea. But then again I rarely use chat clients. Like I said before. If it is an unedited screenshot I don't foresee any problems with using evidence from chat clients.
Yes, but if the evidence clearly shows someone advertising it should be an exception, and if the moderators aren't sure then they can check the logs. Why would anyone lie about someone advertising. I do see your point however.
Minechat programs are to easily changed/edited and you could easily frame someone. This is why we do not allow edited screenshots, as we cannot be sure if anything on minechat was actually edited.
I understand this, but in some cases such as if a builder is spamming a server IP then what is the point in framing someone that nobody knows, and if the mods are not 100% sure if it is edited or not they can check the logs. Like I said under staff discretion and certain circumstances.
If there is someone advertising, they will most likely be dealt with quickly. There are moderators at spawn at all times so they will be able to screenshot the evidence and/or ban the player.
Yus, but at times there is not, i've seen quite a few times where I have been connected via my phone sitting at spawn where people advertise and nothing is done.
If someone's publicly advertising or being vulgar, it's likely that someone else will have screenshotted it from their desktop. I use Minechat and see stuff but I just let it go because I figure someone else will handle it
You can't be sure if a screenshot taken from the game client has been edited. It would be fairly easy to edit a screenshot.
You can't completely hide the fact that it's edited on minecraft, because the chat background is seethrough, we can spot photoshops. (we have done it in the past) But we can't do that with minechat, seeing as the background is completely black, and therefore easy to edit with a bit of patience and precision.
Hmm, while it would be easier for some people to use minechat, and it does seem that it would take a bit of work to frame someone and it is unlikely to be done, I'd prefer not to risk it. One of the main reasons I'm here playing ECC, is because of the 99.99% fair justice system. I'd rather not be sniped from some Joe on minechat who doesn't like me, and since the odds of him framing me are really low, they just file the complaint anyway and I'm banned, I see no point. Overall, it's a small risk, but it's one I'd prefer not to take.
Hello, We the staff do not have a general access to chat logs. Only AndrewKM and Wewinagain can access/check the chat logs. AndrewKM would not be willing to comb through hours of chat logs for a simple advertising issue. We use chat logs for major issues. I don't feel that using mine-chat is a good plan. It is not easy to tell if it is without a doubt edited and personally, I don't want to be putting away innocent people. Revanrose6
