Suggestion: My suggestion put forward to the users of ECC is to reduce the cost of the president+ application of a "Town Transfer", from the current price of $250,000 ECD to around (or thereabouts) the price of $50,000 ECD. The application itself is located here, and is available for all users who rank President or higher.

By completing and being accepted for this application the user can transfer the original ownership of town to themselves, contract permitting, in the exact same fashion as a town claim. This in turn allows for them to be safe from prospective scamming (via Users who originally own the town messaging a GA+) and also allows them to apply for the numerous Mayor+ town features such as town-spawn portals and PvP designated areas.

Reason: The current price of $250,000 ECD is grossly excessive for what you receive; as clearly reflected in only a handful of these forms being completed and accepted since its creation. A price reduction will solve this lack of demand, whilst also benefiting the economy and players :
    • It adds an increased incentive to rank up to the rank of President as you can become a more efficient town trader. This is not really possible as of now because the town is always at risk of being claimed back by an original owner, consequently increasing the risk of "losing big" when acquiring towns.
    • The increased demand to rank up will also take more money out the economy as well as taking this money more regularly, therefore helping to pull ECC out of it's recession. Currently, the only way to legitimately purchase town features (e.g. Portals) is by becoming the owner via a town claim or through the discussed over-priced form. A reduced price will make this form more commonly used and so you can assume the number of town features applied for will rise - also taking money from the economy.
    • A lower price for the form will also mean old, abandoned towns will be more likely to be renovated or sold on to other users; something that does not happen enough with town claims. This will happen because of the point below. (see below)
    • Scamming involving towns will decrease massively and therefore the moderator's work load will decrease. If new owners of towns can cement there position of authority against old owners (via this form which will be now more appropriately priced) then the current scam of messaging a GA+ for your town back cannot happen.

Any Other Information: If you agree with this suggestion rate the post and/or comment below. Any questions/ concerns will also be answered if posted on this thread.

There was a similar suggestion a while back for the price to be 100k. (http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/t...ng-price-of-town-transfers.95696/#post-480792)

Yes a lower price would be good and would make it easier to get more towns, however I can understand why the price is set as it currently is.

This is what I said in that thread mentioned above:

I think that $100,000 is too low. It is only open to Presidents+ and so it really shouldn't be lower than 180k. As a President+, the ONLY way (bar Town Transfers @ 250k) to become the original owner of a town is to apply for Additional Town #3 which costs 220k. So the very minimum it should be in my opinion is 220k.

The other interesting point is that you only pay 250k regardless which # town if it that you are original owner of. Bearing in mind that #4 is 270k, #5 is 330k and #6+ is 400k, you actually save money from using a Town Transfer if you already have 3 or more towns. If you have 6+ additional towns, you save 150k per transfer to get yourself registered as 'Original Owner'. Of course, you are limited to not being able to pick locations/town name for existing towns, but this is offset by the possibility of getting LWCs/materials/buildings etc.

Lets say a Tycoon wants to create a 400x400 town and wants to be the original owner of them all. The way most people do is to either purchased 4 additional towns (Which, if #6+ at 400k per would cost 1.6mil), or to purchase players Mayor in exchange for the town. Now, using town transfers, players could purchase 4 Mayor towns (340k @ 85k each) and could get over the issue of not being original owner at a cost of 1 million. (4 x 250k transfers) Saving 260k buying the additional towns themselves. Bearing in mind that the only other ways to claim a town and become original owner are Tycoon+ ranks at 500k, 1mil, 2.5mil and 5mil for the ranks and 4 town claims, this is actually a lot cheaper if claiming towns is your purpose.

I think overall 250k is actually leaning towards the side of being generous rather than the opposite.

If you lowered the price...more people would use them and more money would be removed from the economy? Just a thought.

This only makes sense in theory, there have been fewer than a dozen town transfers in the history of ECC and this points out that the cost of applications has not fallen in line with the falling cost of many goods on the server. What needs to happen to go about rectifying the economy is reducing the number of EcoDollars in circulation; this would be achieved by drastically reducing the cost of applications such as these, consequently increasing the non-existent demand and therefore decreasing the amount of money in circulation.

As stated above, the price is that low for a reason. Any lower and it would undermine other parts of the ranking/town claiming system.
