Denied [SG Server Suggestion] Broadcast message for SG

Would give more spam in chat.

I know, you can leave channels, but specially New players would get problems with more spam in chat.


Global, trade, lotto, auctions, sg...

I actually thought about this a bit myself, something that people in sg could do like once every minute or more to blast a join sg message instead of spamming it in global chat.

So +1 in some form.

The thing is, even if we do add this, I really don't think it will stop people from spamming the chat asking people to join 30 seconds after the inital broadcast message has gone out.

It's similar to what we see today with lotto, a global broadcast message goes out after someone buys a ticket, and quite often we still see people saying "lotttoooo".

I like the idea, but I think this would be kinda spamming the chat. But if we could find some space in the TAB menu we could put something like ‘waiting players on sg’ there

I personally do not know if this is possible within the sg plugin itself seeing as we are split between multiple servers, unless we do some custom coding which andrew has said he does not want to do for sg, I also dont see the point. People will still put in global they want more people in sg, it wont change anything aside from adding another message. Let alone most of the time, the people who want to play sg already are in the sg lobby.

Don't want to play sg. Have no interest in sg. End up ignoring people who spam to get players for sg.

The thing is, people will spam chat regardless of whether or not there is a broadcast. I feel like it will just add spam to an already spammy chat

 

Because this is a suggestion thread that will effect him if it's approved, he gave -1 with clear points of why he doesn't want this added.

No thanks to the spam. We already have enough of it from people begging others to join SG in chat. I dont want something that I can't ignore added onto it.

 

If that is the case, why would we need this? If someone wants to play sg, he just connects to the sg server.

Laggy, I see where you’re coming from, but people, esp during offpeak, don’t join the SG lobby until they see a game is actually building, regardless of whether or not they are generally interested in playing SG.

As to the idea of a broadcast, I like it, as long as something similar to /lot messages exists; that way most players can opt out, but the players like me who want to know when an sg game is building and really only join SG when other players ask in Global would really appreciate this rather than global being spammed. Feel like this would be a win-win, honestly.

On the comparison to lotto: The existence of the messages would reduce the need, if not mostly, for people to even say it in global, and SG is much more niche anyway.
