SG deathmatch changes

    Right now our deathmatch system is simply said horrible.
    I would propose a couple of changes to the deathmatch that would make the sg games more enjoyable.
    1. Instead of removing the hunger, make it so that you slowly lose health when you go 30 blocks outside of the spawnpoint. This way people can't escape, but will still be able to play their deathmatch as they usually will, only requiring a bit more skill. (running can give critical hits)
      Also maybe even decreasing that distance by 1 block every 5 seconds, making it so that people have no choice but to fight each other in the end.
    2. Make people spawn 2 or 3 spots away from each other instead of 1, this makes it so that people don't immediately die, and would make the sg deathmatch a bit more fun.
    3. When there are 3 people left make it say that a deathmatch will happen in 30 seconds, this way people have some time to prepare. This way people won't avoid each other when there are only 4 people left, because they're given some time to heal.
    4. When people get teleported to spawn, freeze them in place for 10 seconds so they can load the map. It's unfair when you get killed before you can even see your opponent.
    5. Make deathmatch automatically happen when 30 minutes have passed, usually only 4-6 people survive at this point. So there should be no problem with space.

    This really needs to happen, when ever i get to the final 2 i never have a chance, just because i spawn so close to them, and they normally have kits so i lose by default.

    If it is possible, the remaining people should be spawned so that the distance between them is the greatest possible, not 1-3 spots away from each other.

    This sounds familiar...

    This is...almost exactly the same deathmatch system used on some SG servers I used to play on quite actively. Almost down to the time and player positions/numbers. (30 minutes automatic start, 10 seconds freezing in place to load the map, players 2 podiums away from each other, 3 players to start deathmatch, 30 seconds after 4th dies before deathmatch start...nearly the only difference is the rate of deathmatch arena health decay radius closing in.)

    It's a good system, but if ECC wants to be original, this isn't the way to go. I'm sure there are other creative ideas out there. (Although the freezing in place for 10 seconds is essential. I cannot agree more how important that is. Just make sure someone can't fire a bow at me the moment it starts by pulling it back during the portion of freezing. ._.)

    Still, I cannot agree more about one thing: The current system has it's flaws, and the one presented in this thread has proven to be reliable and fun.

    When people come from any other server and have played sg before and they notice how things are completely different they tend to be put off, or upset. Which is why I proposed some ideas that are basically the same as a more popular sg server. If the mechanics are similar then people who've played sg before will be able to get into it quickly and play the game more.

    I understand and can agree with that. The reason for me saying what I'm saying is influenced by the fact that such a unique deathmatch idea has been used for ECC: I can only assume it's either because it has to be that way to prevent legal complications for "copying" other SG communities if such a thing could come up, or just to reach to an audience that wants something different to prevent ECC users from playing at other, larger communities instead. (Or maybe they just thought it's be a cool idea, and it is, with some work and balancing.) Whatever the case, I'm not exactly against this suggestion if it's possible and practical to do, (Which it very well might be.) but in the equally likely event it cannot be done or ECC wants to have an original deathmatch, then this suggestion obviously wouldn't be used.

    In other words: I'm not disagreeing, just proposing a possible reason why this suggestion might not actually happen. Then again, I don't truly know ECC's goals or limitations with SG, I can only make an educated guess, so maybe I shouldn't be talking.

    I think making ECC like another popular sg server is going to have negative effects on ECC. If people want a unoriginal basic kind of sg they'll go to an sg server. Keep ECC unique, be original. Besides the fact ECC has the economy aspect we'd be making it just like any other sg on another server.

    But that's exactly what has proven to work. Unless someone comes up with an idea that works great, taking things that we know will work is a good idea.

    but I've even seen you say that this is a economy server so who cares bout all the other stuff. Keep ECC economy who cares about the rest, its a fine working system right now. We dont want to be like all the other sg servers.
    Ecc is not a sg server so at least this way its unique. If you want an actual sg server then go to one.

    I recall you saying somewhere that if we want Ecc to be the best it can possibly be then we need to improve all aspects on the server, including the pvp world. The deathmatch needs to be improved and using the same format as a more popular sg server is a good idea. Why not be the best you can be? Original is Overrated.

    Ya seewii that is my point only kuke likes to always go against it so i felt id turn the tables for this one. So although improving deathmatch is important making it exactly like top sg servers is dumb. ECC needs to improve itself all around but copying something that can be so easily customized is pointless.

    riku1301 if you are here just to go against everything that kuke says I would suggest to do it elsewhere. This thread is for opinions on changing the way death match works, not to "turn the tables" and use this against something kuke said. As for this idea I'd give it a +1 having a better sg like other servers would give other players another reason to join ECC

    I'm all for this, I'm tired of working so hard to get 6-9 kills, getting to death match, seeing no one there and no world loaded, then a person with 0 kills wins.

    The system right now isn't that bad. As for other ideas I'm not saying these ideas aren't good just don't take exact times from other servers. Try and make it somewhat original.

    Someone needs to state the other side of the argument. Everyone is just going to be like kuke posted, it's good. Not to mention I do mean it, we shouldn't copy other servers down to the second.
