Rules Update Thread

Hello ECC

This thread is going to be used to keep track of all updates to the rules. The idea of this is to help the player base be more aware of updates to the rules so that they can adjust their actions in-game accordingly if needed.

NOTE: This thread is not to propose/disagree with any rule changes. If you wish to do this please make a suggestion. This thread is purely for informing everyone of changes. Any posts which do not comply with this will be removed.

1. Section 5, Clause 3 'Seizure of Propety & 3 Day Eviction Notices'



By owning the town, a town Mayor has the right to remove you from the town at any time, for any reason, so long as the Mayor gives the user a 3 day eviction notice.

• An eviction notice may be given by in-game (either by PM or /mail) or by tagging evicted users in a thread in the Town Evicitions sub-forum within the Towns Discussion forum. It is not required to post a thread for any eviction, although it may be easier if you are evicting multiple users.
• The eviction notice must contain the name of the town. Be sure to collect evidence of this for LWC Removal Requests and/or proof should it be required at a later date. It is crucial that the screenshot has a timestamp (double tap f2).
• If the user being evicted has LWCs in the town and the Mayor intends to file an LWC Request to have them removed, the eviction notice must include a specific request that the user removes their locks within the 3 days.
• The evicted user must have had the opportunity to view the eviction notice. If the user has not been online, in-game or on the forums depending on how the eviction notice was issued, during the 3 day period then the eviction is not valid. The mayor or co-mayor must wait until the user is inactive (at least 7 days offline) or has been online to view to the notice before removing the user from the town or filing an LWC Removal Request.

However, under the following circumstances, the 3 day eviction criteria need not be met and the user may be removed from the town:

• A user is inactive (by staff standards, this means at least 7 days offline.)
• A user who has been banned for griefing in the town.

2. Section 5, Clause 4 'LWC Removal Requests'

• LWCs in towns may only be removed with a request in the Staff Requests forum by the mayor or co-mayor of the town under the following circumstances:
  • A user is inactive (by staff standards, this means at least 7 days offline.)
  • A user has been issued a 3 day eviction notice that complies with the requirements above in Clause 3. Proof of the eviction notice must be provided.
  • A user has been banned for Moderate+ grief in the town.
  • A user has been requested to remove their locks via an eviction notice and has outrightly declined to do so (timestamped proof of declination to remove locks must be provided with the request.)
• Any other request that does not follow these guidelines is considered attempted theft, and in serious cases, you may be punished for attempting to illegally remove locks.
• Locks in the wild and locks belonging to the applicant owner of the town may not be removed.

• You may not block access to any locked belongings of the evicted user at any time. Staff will deny all requests in which the LWCs have been blocked in an attempt to protect items.
  • If your request has been locked for this reason, you must re-issue the 3 day eviction notice and may only file a new LWC removal request once the 3 day eviction period has expired.
  • If the player was not issued an eviction notice as they had been offline for 7+ days, then you must still wait 3 days before re-filing the request.

1. Section 1, Clause 4 'Theft and Safety'

• Items left in unlocked chests or on the ground are fair game, no matter their location.

2. Section 3, Clause 2.2 'Attempted Scamming''

• Users cannot attempt to scam other users. If enough evidence is provided and the staff believe a scam was intended, this will result in a temporary ban against the offending user.
  • Attempted scamming includes misleading sales or auctions. For example an auction for 'a melon,sword'.

3. Section 4, Clause 3 'Inappropriate/Touchy Subjects and Discussions'

• Politics, religion, banned users, and suicide are common “touchy subjects”, however they are not the only ones. Should a staff member ask you to change a subject they feel is touchy and/or is causing the direction of chat to deviate towards an argument or flame war, you must drop the subject immediately.
• Discussing a banned user's ban reason and why they were banned is not allowed, however simply mentioning a banned player's username is allowed.

4. Section 6, Clause 2 'Multiple Accounts'

• You may not use multiple accounts to financially benefit yourself. If you are caught using two or more Minecraft accounts to benefit you, all accounts will be banned and you will lose the ability to play on the EcoCityCraft server permanently.There must be absolutely no interaction between the two accounts.
  
  • If you have a second account, which is being used legally, you must contact a staff member immediately and inform them.
  [*]Multiple accounts on the same internet connection/IP are allowed so long as the accounts are used by different people.
  [*]Users may be questioned for being on the same internet connection, or, in cases of suspicious activity and bans, immediately banned regardless of the reason for the same connection, to be appealed with an explanation.

• Multiple accounts used by different people on the same internet connection/IP are allowed.
• An individual person playing on multiple accounts is allowed so long as no financial benefits arise from doing so. There must be absolutely no financial interaction between multiple accounts that you own.
• If there are multiple accounts on the same internet connection/IP, either used by you or others, you must contact a member of staff immediately to inform them.
• Users may be questioned for being on the same internet connection, or, in cases of suspicious activity and bans, immediately banned regardless of the reason for the same connection, to be appealed with an explanation.

6. [NEW] Section 6, Clause 5 'Minimaps'

• The only minimap which is allowed to be used is the Official ECC Minimap. Instructions for downloading and installing the minimap can be found here.

7. Section 8, Clause 7 'Investigator'

• If you find major grief, yet still want some serious justice laid on them; you will need to firstly remove the user from your town and then proceed with our regular grief report process and have our staff investigate it themselves.
• Remember, we only rollback/ban for major griefs.

1. Section 1, Clause 2 'Building Rules'

Clause 2.1 Disallowed Structures
There are several disallowed structures on this server, which are prohibited even in the wild:

• Blocks spelling out inappropriate language.
• Signs with defamatory and/or vulgar language.
• Cactus farms.
• Player traps in non-PvP worlds.
• Continuous redstone clocks are not allowed.
  • Temporary, small redstone clocks are fine so long as they are only used for a short period at a time.
• Farms that operate by means of Redstone Lamps or turning off the lights in order to break crops (aka. "Light farming")
• Large passive mob farms or any large collection of passive mobs are strictly forbidden.
  • Small farms (roughly 50 mobs or less) are allowed so long as they do not cause any server lag.
• Any buildings deemed inappropriate by staff.

 

We are still handling them, we just don't rely on the evidence from a player using investigator. A town mayor is still able to hire an investigator to find out who it was for their own personal knowledge. Then you may decide to file a grief report for the staff to take action.

 

The really why that was crossed out is because what you described is allowed. That line made it sound like multiple accounts are ONLY allowed if used by different people, when in fact they are allowed so long as someone isn't using them to financially benefit themselves.

I think that this rule could be worded better, I will look into changing it. Part of the reason why I wanted to make these changes public in a thread like this is for this reason. What I am thinking may not always be obvious to everyone else

That is ok up to the point someone says 'Why is XYZ banned?', at which point it would break the rule. The reasoning behind the rule being like this was that it seemed harsh on people who would ask questions like 'Has anyone seen Dewsy92 recently?' 'He's banned'. Mod: 'Please don't discuss banned players'.

I would like to point out that anyone purposively trying to abuse this rule will be considered trolling and warned accordingly.
