What next gen console do you think is the best, which one will you be getting, personally the wii u is an utter fail and Nintendo are definitely feeling the pain, I think out of them all that the PS4 is the best, mainly due to it's price and brute power. Please explain your answer, don't just say. "I like the ps4 because the xbox is crap"
Basically, ever since my xbox got the dreaded rings of death, I have converted to playing the PS3. Depsite the 'worse' online play as many people call it, I prefer not paying £40 a year for the same game to play online. I am mainly getting the PS4 due to past experiences with Xbox but the price is a big factor. Also, microsoft shot themselves in the foot at the E3 presentation and since then, they haven't convinced me to buy an xbox. I have pre-ordered the PS4 but I also have a raffle ticket for the christmas console giveaway. I will be getting an xbox if I win just so I can have both
If Microsoft learnt how to communicate their product better then I would have gotten an Xbox One, since their marketing department is more clueless that a fish out of water they have ruined what could have been a good product.
Better marketing wouldn't change the fact that they don't give a rats ass about their customers. I will never ever buy a microsoft console again. There is nothing to stop them from enabling all of the "features" that they said they were dumping. Not to mention the fact that PSN functionality (most notably netflx/amazon instant view/MLB.tv) is all free vs the yearly cost of XBL. Even if PS started charging, I would much rather pay them, than the RROD asshats.
I agree with you there, the thing about Microsoft is they try and milk as much money as they can out of you. They don't really care about their customers, if they did then we would see more significant changes. With Sony, yes there will be a online fee but unlike the xbox we will be getting free games, we won't have to have a paid subscription for Netflix, Spotify, etc etc. Sony is more about the customers and what they actually want. Microsoft is all about the money Sent from my HTC One
Microsoft is all about listening to focus groups conducted by people with MBA's and then over-analyzed by $1000 suits around a giant boardroom. While the same is probably true for Sony, at least they listen to gamers too.
I feel as of right now, the console race is a little more even then it was at E3 time. That said, Microsoft still left a bad taste in my mouth from their unveiling/E3 performance. I will give them some credit for backtracking on the policies, but that still won't change my mind on which console I prefer now. Microsoft had plenty of chances to woo the world and I over, but they just kept shooting themselves in the foot. By the time they realized their mistakes, I was already won over by Sony. Now onto Nintendo. I believe that Nintendo doesn't really care about the whole console race. They've always just done their own thing, regardless of what their competitors do. Is the Wii U a failure? I don't think so. I just think Nintendo needs to do a bit more work on getting the console some big games. That's what I feel it's problem is right now. The Wii U has plenty of potential, and I get the feeling that it's about to make a decent turn around and surprise quite a few people.
Nintendo has been unable to hold market share because their customer got older and they haven't been able to replenish the supply. People that grew up with mario aren't all still playing mario anymore. As great and wonderful and amazing as their IP is, they desperately need to continue to innovate with some new IP.
Not true at all. Wii by far outsold both the PS3 and 360, and at one point nearly had more sales than both combined. Plenty of people who played mario, zelda, etc games in their childhood are playing the newer ones AND on top of that they are getting many new players from both casual and hardcore demographics. The Wii U has a good chance to do well this generation, mainly due to the outstanding exclusives for the system. Nintendo's IP's are just waiting to flourish on the Wii U, and with the next main console Zelda title and other such games coming out soon, there's plenty to look forward to on the system. On the other hand, both the Ps4 and xbox 360 have greater processing power than the wii u. However, they lack sufficient exclusives to completely destroy the wii u. While I do think that the PS4 will probably beat the Wii U in sales this generation, it is VERY unlikely that the wii u will by AT ALL far behind, unlike what most of you in this thread seem to be saying. TL;DR While the Wii U isn't definitely the best Gen 8 console, it's certainly still in the competition.
Oh how funny it is when people compare Xbox and PS to Nintendo Consoles. Nintendo has never been, and never will be, in direct competition with Sony and Microsoft. Honestly, Nintendo has kind of always been...doing their own thing. Instead of focusing on having the best graphics, "hardcore" games, and overall beating the other companies at what the other companies are trying to be best in, they are innovating new and different things, with admittedly varying levels of success. (lol virtual boy.) While the motion controls for the Wii weren't exactly amazing, and the weird tablet controller for Wii U isn't exactly the best thing ever, and the 3D for the 3DS is gimmicky...it's still getting them sales. Heck, their games are a lot different too: Instead of all their popular franchises being more towards "hardcore" gamers, they stray towards the casual ones, and with nobody directly competing with them there all too much, they don't have any trouble keeping up. Comparing Nintendo to Sony and Microsoft is like comparing carrots to apples and peaches. Apples and peaches appeal to the larger audience, most people enjoy them, but they are competing with each other, and the sales will be split between them. On the other hand, carrots are kind of their own thing. Although less people would pick up a carrot and eat it over an apple or a peach, when someone does want a carrot, there isn't a lot of other things someone could turn to for that carroty taste. (Okay, that was the worst example ever, but you get the idea.) Most people you will talk to in gaming communities will say they'd prefer an Xbox or PS over a Nintendo console any day, unless of course you are in a Nintendo game's community. After all, most gaming communities, and most gamers in general, are more towards that audience. However, those few, stray Nintendo lovers out there also exist...but it's not because Nintendo is a dying company that there is so few, it's just that...Nintendo lovers usually flock to their own places and do their own things. It really bothers me when people who don't do the math disregard Nintendo consoles as a fail. Nintendo consoles have their problems, like gimmicky controls/3D/whatever they decide to do...but once you get around this, (like playing a game that doesn't overly use the motion controls (most good games.) or turning off the 3D) there is honestly nothing wrong with it at all. There is still plenty of great games out there for the console, they just might not suit your tastes. This is just what Nintendo is: Sony and Microsoft play it safe, (well, maybe not this time in Microsoft's case.) while Nintendo tries new and different things. Nintendo systems always have their issues, but that almost never gets in the way of a great game. (Well, there are a few games that could have been better without motion controls...) Unless I'm mistaken, the touch controls on the DS was successful, (When done right, which a lot of the time isn't up to Nintendo necessarily. It's a lot harder to do this wrong than motion controls.) and actually works quite well. At the time, I don't believe touch controlled games were really much of a thing...and that's a good portion of handheld games now. Honestly, the only two places I game are my PC and my Nintendo consoles, really. A lot of non-Nintendo games I want end up on PC at some point, and most Nintendo games never make their way here. I find it would be much more cost effective for me to just buy a Wii U and stick to PC gaming alongside it than to pick up another several hundred dollar console that I might play one or two games on once in a while just because they aren't available on PC. (And let's be honest, here, a ton of games make their way to PC at some point...you know, aside from Nintendo ones. Emulators aside anyway.) Though this is just my preference. I almost always prefer keyboard and mouse, and most console exclusive games aside from Nintendo ones just don't appeal to me. (Honestly, can't even think of one off the top of my head right now.)
Every single post that you make is amazing, this has made me rethink everything in great detail. I have to say from listening to everything you have said I completely agree with you.
Ps4 ftw becauuuuse the xbox one needs internet to play a freaking single player game, so if the internet is down (ex I live in a place where the internet goes down a lot) so I could still play single player games. And the xbox one has to do with a lot of watching netflix and what not, so is it a netflix watching thing or a gaming console? lol like make up your mind. And wii u, like what ever. Can you even play fallout or portal on it? For all I know the only good games on it is animal crossing and Mario cart.
You won't be able to play fallout or portal on PS4/XbOne, considering that those are previous gen games, lol. There is no animal crossing at all for wiiu and mario cart 8 isn't even out yet. Plenty of other good games anyway.
