Item/Rank/Feature: Mining in general, but concentrating on Diamonds and Gold. Data Value: Diamond : 264 Gold : 266 Current Price: Diamond : $25 Gold : $10 Suggested Price: Diamond : $35-$45 Gold : $15 Brief Description: Two rarest items acquired by mining that aren't biome dependent, yet their /sell hand is so low and it is really hitting mining hard. The exp money from the items is very minimal and with exp so low gains very little money. Open Discussion: Mining has always had a place second best to farming on this server for a long time, but it has really been hit hard with the increased popularity of the server. This means more people finding diamonds, so they went from $100 all the way down to almost the introduced /sell hand of $28. Even when Diamonds were $100 each mining only made $10k-$15k and hour. I haven't worked it out for now but it must be as low as $8k and hour with an eff 5 fortune 3 diamond pickaxe. I do not like how focused the server is anymore on farming, and needing a decent computer to do so (which I don't have), however I am not going to ask for farming to be raised to accommodate my lag. I am simply asking for alternative ways of making money. Mining should always make less then farming as you don't have to build a farm. It should make this much less though! As for raising Gold I made a suggestions 6 months ago and I think it may be the most upvoted post in suggestions, however I never got a response from someone with the ability to do something. Gold is almost as rare as diamonds and now actually holds a few more uses than it did then, so I feel the price of $10 is really low. I am aware that the economy is working okay at the moment, but please add alternative ways of making money rather than farming. It will make the server more diverse and interesting for all who play it, as well as giving more of a chance to new players who don't have access to massive farms and need a little bit of money to really get into the server. I ask that you respond with something that is of benefit to the argument rather than just 'no' or even 'yes'.
Greetings, I don't think these price changes can occur because of the recent advent of the Efficiency 7 pickaxe, which mines through nearly any material instantly, even at /speed 10. Unfortunately, this pickaxe already makes upwards of 35k per hour (as seen here), and these buffs would allow it to make upwards of 45k per hour, which is insane. Sincerely, PULLH20
It is though, those picks cost 600k and you are always at risk of dying with them or breaking them. It would take a good 40 hours of mining just to pay back the pickaxe.
Personally, I usually make more money mining than farming. It depends on how you're farming, and how you're mining, and it's a personal preference from player to player. I really personally don't feel that the prices are unbalanced, just my opinion.
I think the major "issue" with mining is that Mining World ores/minerals only last for about half of the time that the Mining World is up (for example, materials last a week, when it gets reset every two weeks). By no means should the Mining World reset more often (and definitely not expand the map), but miners really just have to jump into the Mining World ASAP once it is reset. Although I would like some ores/minerals upped in price, with the introduction of Eff7, it would only cause problems. Mining is one of those things that has too many variables due to how ECC runs/plays. :/ Environment, mining style, tools, time-based, maybe even donation-feature "based" (repairs), if anyone is around you, the world generation, etc.
I would love for the diamond and gold priced to go up... but there is a major issue with it. First off one of the big issues is Diamonds. There are too many diamonds floating around the server, that's why the price at the moment is so low. After the whole town claim thing first started, a lot of people lwc'd stacks upon stacks of diamonds (I personally got 7 and a half stacks of diamond blocks for lwc's) and that went straight into a chest or into the player market. Second issue is gold... There is so much damn gold in the market right now, I don't even know why its still the price it is at the moment. I have about 4 stacks of blocks my self, Office's old vault had tons... and a lot of inactive users have tons in there chests that are waiting to be lwc'd. I personally feel that the prices are fine as they are. You and other might not agree, but I can make about 15k-30k in one mining mission (which is usually about 1 hour of mining). One issue I do have with mining is that the mining world doesn't get reset enough... By the second week after a reset, it's pretty much all explored by then. But when that happens I just find an unexplored area of the main world. I almost forgot about the new "/wild" command which works too. If mining is your only source and you're not making enough because you think the prices are not right. Maybe it's time to look into getting a pumpkin axe and perms to a farm, or start saving for a melon sword because the prices are fine as they are. I still remember when diamonds were worthless because fish were worth $50 along with obsidian. They economy fixed its self after but as it sits right now they economy is doing fine and I think this change would just mess it up. (Also! with people running around with there EFF7's it would make them around 30k as is but if they change happens then they'll make up to 45k+) (BTW gold and diamond are not the rarest... Emerald and Lapis are more rare then them both)
While this suggestion would be fair for your average miner, there are too many eff7 picks out there now for this to happen. Anyway, ECC has always judged money making off of the most efficient method.
I agree, irelia is really getting out of han- I MEAN woops yeah mining should probably not get buffed because efficiency 7 is op
They are way too many diamonds, if anything diamonds should be like $20 due to the amount of them. Gold on the other hand probably should rise. It inst anywhere as near as common as iron, yet iron is only $2.50 less.
I dont think theres a problem with the prices I make alot with caving if you dont believe me watch one of my caving vids and see for your self. Theres nothing wrong with the prices
I refuse to allow this to happen, because if it does ike's vault goes from being worth 1.7mil to 3mil! We absolutely can't let that happen! xD, but all in all I think the prices are fine as they are, maybe increase gold by 5? But no more than that...
I think the first statement (above) contradicts the second statement (above). Maybe not "contradicts", but rather" conflicts with". If it is possible to make that much, then I think that the resets need to be further apart to balance it. Too many diamonds in circulation? Too much gold due to new LWC's? Extend the resets. Extending the resets balances out too much ore. While the above may not be an ideal solution , the fact remains that if we shorten the resets, it just exacerbates the problem.
-"15k-30k" It's usually only 12k-20k but there is the times when I find more ore and make up to 30k. Its very possible to make up to 30k... ask anyone with an eff7. I rarely go mining these days because I am slightly inactive. -Those numbers were taken for mining last month and the economy was different then because people bought diamonds for more along with gold. -I recently claimed a town that ALOT of gold in it and I sold a lot of it to the players in the player market. I do think the resets are fine for me because I don't play too much... But for others who play a lot and don't make much when they mine; they have a different opinion on it. -I was speaking upon the people who don't make much while mining and want the reset to be more often than it currently is. -I personally don't care if the mining prices change... I farm. -If I really wanted to mining world to reset more often I would make a suggestion... But I don't care. Now, i'm done with this thread. Please feel free to reply and/or flame on me for expressing my opinion. Know matter how many times I were to be tagged I don't have time to deal with this childish game or this forum roleplay crap right now. ~Phoenix
