+ Caps, short for Capitals, are essential to all styles of writing. Whether they be for announcing one's thought in a blatant manner, used formally whilst addressing users or just for straight grammar - Caps surround us all. Not too long ago, has our Administrator imposed the "Anti-Caps Act" on the users of EcoCityCraft. The very thought of this seemed reasonable as we had issues in the past with users who had a "Caps-Lock" issue. Now it's become the epitome of darkness for some users with the constant frustration of looking like an illiterate player. I myself, have felt oppressed by this imposing Act and wish that something must be done. - The mission of our petition is to either remove the "Anti-Caps" rule altogether or severely limit it amongst certain users or ranks. However difficult the latter may be, I find the first to be efficient enough. I much rather deal with the ocassional "caps-lock" guy than have to suffer not being able to type the simplest of emoticons or just simply welcoming a peer back. + The time for change is now, where we shall entwine the laces of our voices into a single entity that is to represent our homogenous view and pave way for a server revolution! - Please, my EcoCityCraft brethren, join together and hold hands as we march through the server as one, phalanx -style. A force fortified by our corresponding beliefs and values that shall'nt perish.
I'm in for the Anti-Caps but not at 10%! Saying one word statements using proper capitalizations can be irksome to some(like me.) Now if caps were abused(AS AN EXAMPLE LIKE THIS AND BEING SPAMMED PERSISTENTLY), that user should be punished, most likely a mute to all chats. Those are my 2 cents, but this Anti-Caps Act should be HEAVILY modified.
I almost wish the "No Filter" option wasn't in this poll. The Capslock Filter is amazing, and helpful - It just needs adjustment. Even an adjustment of "Four letters or less = No caps filter" would be great. That can always be changed adjusted in itself. And, as you said, it's bothersome to even say "True," "Hi ___," "Lol," "Okay," etc. without it totally making your message just look... eh. I tried greeting Antcubing earlier, and it turned it into "hi ant," which highly bothers me. :/ As much as I like the "encouragement" for writing everything in one message, rather than "spamming" several messages with what you want to say, it's annoying, and hard for people to change that habit/writing 'style.' I just think it needs adjustment, so it's bothering me how people want it gone.
Future note - Spoke with andrewkm, the "No Filter" option is 99% unlikely because of the amount of effort placed into creating this plugin customized for our server. Second place goes to 50%. :]
Is it possible to make it 51% if 50% happens? Because that would allow "xD" and a bunch of other faces without taking out the filter completely. Also, I don't want the filter gone, as it's so much more peaceful without users spamming caps. But I don't want the filter to be 10%. You can't type properly at all... 25% was okay, but you still sometimes couldn't type properly. 50% would be perfect, because it's not nearly as much of a problem if a user uses 45% caps as it is when they use 70%. And would allow you to actually type properly. The amount of users we get using lots of caps will go down quite a lot, (Compaired to before the filter) so it won't be nearly as much of a problem.
This thing is VERY annoying, it was much more preffered when we just warned the occasional caps user. This shouldn't of been included in the plug in's directly, it should of had a test period first to see how it worked.
If the plugin we use is the one I found and researched, only factors of 10 would work, e.g. 50%. 51% wouldn't work unfortunately, that was exactly what was in my head.
I wanna say take out the No Filter option and restart the poll, but all those votes will likely just go to 50%. :b I like the 51% idea. I don't see it being too much of a problem. And, if it is a problem, we can always adjust it again.
