Well I need someone to tell me a good gaming laptop or to get the bits. I need a laptop since I got to go from my mums to dads house. Budget: $500 around I will be playing games like TF2 and Minecraft. I will probably only have that.
$500 is not nearly enough for a real good laptop for gaming. But, it can provide you with a laptop that can play stuff at really low settings without lag.
You should take a look at some manufacturers refurbishment, most of them still come with the guarantee that you'd get with a new one and are considerably cheaper Sent from my HTC One
$500 is waaaay off a good gaming laptop, even a decent desktop costs $1000-1500 I would recommend ASUS or Samsung, as they have decently cheap laptops but they are above the $500 range
...Depends on your definition of "decent". I'm running off of a $600-700 desktop right here, and I can run max settings for just about any game I wish. (Minecraft doesn't count with optifine extreme render distance or shader mods. That's just overkill.) It's quite uncommon my desktop can't handle something I want it to do, and even when it can't, that's my fault, not the price tag's fault. Do have to agree about the laptops, though. A serious gaming laptop is going to cost you more than $500. Honestly, gaming on a laptop isn't really worth your time unless it's truly your only option, because the sheer price tag it'll cost just to get it to run games decently, and the shorter life...it's really just better to get a desktop. If you're really only going to be playing TF2 and Minecraft on it, though, you might be able to get away with a cheaper one laptop. Personally, I don't have anything to recommend, though.
You can always build a powerful desktop around a mini ATX motherboard in a small case, those can be considered as portable.
Check out the Lenovo ideapad z585 I have it and I can play max settings on mine craft and get around 30-50 frames
lol. My username is meant to be pronounced "dork", so it's fine to me. It's just extra confusing now since there actually is a "dork". xD

A desktop is a pretty good option if you don't mind carrying the computer, monitor, and keyboard around. You can probably find an i3 desktop on newegg for around $450 and insert a decent $50 graphics card into it. That could work with your budget.
