Yes that is correct, 1.9 has been pre-released and you could get it here; assets.minecraft.net/1_9-pre/minecraft.jar Upon finding stuff I will point it out Spoiler Swamps (new biome) lily pad -- New blocks: Nether bricks nether fences (look like obsidian) Cracked stone brick NPC's now spawn in villages (they look like the rito people from zelda wind waker without wings) New Items: Blaze Rod (Use unknown/ how to get it unknown) Ghast Tead (Use unknown/ how to get it, I'm assuming kill a ghast) Unnamed item that looks like a golden tooth Nether Wart (Use unknown/how to get unknown but something to do with neather This update will be based a lot around the nether and there should be a new mob there but I couldn't find it.. nor did I see any ghasts
People have been saying that there will be animal breeding, a nerf for endermen, a use for ender pearls and boss mobs in dungeons
The swamp biome is kinda ugly in my opinion the water looks purplish o.o but that is the only way to find any lilypads. 1.10 is also announced to be the "More Adventures Update" and the developers confirmed that when they get enough feedback for 1.9 they will put the official release which is coming soon. Notch also confirms 3 new mobs. 2 Hostile nether mobs and a snowman that is a friendly mob
http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Upcoming_features There will be unlimited strongholds... Boss mobs in strongholds. Six total new mobs, not 3. xD Also, gold will need nerf/buff when we have nether again, since pigmen drop unique gold items to make gold bars. And yeah.. We don't technically need a new map just for biomes. Even though there is like 3 new biomes/generated things. At least half of that is in the nether. xD edit: Also, constant jumping is disabled. I am sadface. I wanna hold down space and jump constantly. ;__;
Notch tweeted that he wants to make charged jumping (i.e. high jumps) possible, so non-stop jumping is gone. :/
To get to the new Snow Golem mob you place 2 snow blocks and then a jackolantern on top of em (not in crafting table). They are friendly and shoot enemies with snowballs.
It seems that 1.9 is MultiThreaded.. Meaning it uses more then 1 cpu core. People with lower end dual cores or single core cpus get too much lag or cant create a world. Just what i have heard.. (And my 2 cents)
