If someone’s inbox is full, mention them in this thread if there is no other way to contact them. This is to prevent people from making threads just to contact just one person.
Some people restrict their profiles And if their forum mail is full+ if they don’t check their in game mail, it’s impossible to contact then
This is why. As he said, people may not check their in game mail, not be apart of discord, or restrict access to accounts. This thread is so that if any of those apply to a person, you can contact them, due to them probably replying to a mention faster.
Not everyone on ECC has Discord. Anyway, I don't really think there should be a thread dedicated to mentioning people. Maybe implement something that notifies the person that you're trying to contact them even while they have a full inbox? Idk
Staff is so jammed pack, this thread (as Laggy said above beautifully) is a last resort. So a bunch of last resorts in a thread.
I’m not sure, but I thought that if your inbox is full and someone tries to forum pm you... tho the pm doesn’t go through... it still sends a notification to the person letting them know so-and-so tried to pm you, but your inbox was full. Like I know it tells the person sending the pm that the other person’s inbox is full and doesn’t send the pm, but I thought it also notified the person with the full inbox. Reason I think this... I pm’ed someone who had a full inbox and so I was told my pm couldn’t be sent. I did not try to contact the person any other way, they had no idea I tried to contact them, but yet a few hours later that person messaged me in-game asking what I needed cause they seen where I tried to forum pm them, then apologized for their full inbox. I just assumed my failed pm notified them somehow? Only way I could explain that as I didn’t ask how the person knew. Plus I was unaware that in-game mails had a limit and also get “full”. For just the purpose of knowledge, what is the in-game mail limit?
I think it is important to weigh the pros and cons of a thread like this. Pro: we are able to contact people Con: what if this said person does not want to be contacted? Pro: this prevents general discussion from becoming filled with spam Con: this was never problem until this year, still isn't a problem Pro: this thread is helpful for users to get someone's attention quickly Con: 11/12 of the posts on this thread didn't actually tag anyone so... Additional con: zedoker tagged sick but what of it sick sees the notification yet has no idea what zedoker wanted! sick would have to now go out of his way to contact zedoker, but what if his inbox is full.. would a tag on this thread be sufficient? Just trying to work the pros and cons of this situation.
But you see, this thread wasn’t made for a debate to see if this is a good idea. It’s a contact thread as a last ditch resort. If there is a problem with it, staff can lock it.
