    I suggest that when the Smelting Child Skill causes insta-smelting to occur, we should receive 1 xp orb to compensate us for the lost XP from smelting the ore in a furnace.

    It is actually a BAD thing to have it smelted automatically. if you're using coal to smelt ore, it costs you less than 15 cents to smelt one ore, and you get .7 XP from Iron; 1.0 XP from Gold. When the ore is automatically smelted, you lose this XP. Its like giving up about 1 orb of XP to save .15 -- which is bad.

    I do not see the point of this.
    Then it would be impossible to get iron and gold ore. Some people would like to build with the ores.
    It would be even worse if the same happends to emerald, diamond, lapis and redstone ore. Silk touch would be worth nothing.

    I do not like this

    You've misunderstood what I'm suggesting. When you mine Iron Ore or Gold Ore, there is a chance that it will automatically smelt (caused by the McMMO Smelting child skill). An ingot will drop on the ground instead of the ore. This is what is happening already.

    I am just asking that an XP orb also drop whenever you get the insta-smelt.

    I don't quite understand, you want ores to be smelted automatically based on your smelting skill?
    If so, smelting already has that, get your mining to 1k and you'll have a large chance of autosmelting ores, though, without the 1xp. (silk touch is unaffected by this feature, you can still pick ores up)

    I see, nvm that.

    There's no need for that, it's makes up for the loss of coal. (or other fuel)

    The coal only costs 12.5 cents, the XP lost is .7 orbs for Iron, 1.0 orbs for gold.

    Coal costs .125 per smelt, that is like giving away the XP at a price of $103.13 for 30 levels!

    Coal costs $1 each, and you get 8 smelts out of it meaning it only costs you $0.125. With a cooking pot you get 20 smelts per coal costing you $0.05. By doing this you are making the price of xp drop when really we want it to rise. The loss of xp is good for the economy as at the moment xp is very low even with the recent price rise.

    FALSE, you still have to buy or mine the material you smelt, this costs money or time.

    That just supports my point because now things are even worse because you spend time to give away XP at a rate of $100 per 825 orbs.

    All I'm saying is that mining has received a nerf because of McMMO smelting.

    If I go out and mine for awhile:

    Before: I come home with 64 Iron Ore -> 64 Iron Ingots + 40-something XP - 8 Coal

    Now: I come home with 32 Iron Ore + 32 Iron Ingots -> 64 Iron Ingots + 20-something XP - 4 coal

    I'm losing 20+ XP in exchange for 4 coal -- this is a terrible trade.

    For gold, its even worse: 32 XP in exchange for 4 coal.

    But.. most people use cooking pots, which doesn't give any exp.

    Cooking pots let us choose. Smelting doesn't.

    I have resorted to mining only with a silk pick because of this. The only way around the autosmelt, is to silk the ore and smelt it yourself. Silk mining Iron and Gold ore seems like a waste. I have to silk something to get what I would normally.

    A good fix: I would LOVE to be able to turn auto smelting off. I lose so much xp because of it and would have no problem just getting rid of it. It is great in theory, terrible in execution.

    I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

    I was not aware of that option. :oops: If that works, then I am a very happy camper here. I'll turn it off when mining those ores, and turn it back on when doing everything else.

    Thank you for the information . :)
