If the items were owned, they will show up in the logs from your death. See Andrewkm's post on this thread for example.
I am unable to reproduce this from the information you provided. The only way I was able to reproduce this behavior was to: Disable pause on lost focus Hold the "walk" key and simultaneously exit fullscreen using the keyboard shortcut Alt-tab out of the game
Most likely your browser prioritised your internet connection (or you just lagged a crap ton) causing you to lag through the floor and suffocate from chunk lag. Happened to me before while I was just walking around a town I lived in when I had internet maybe as bad as the one I have right now.
