So I noticed that the view distance is limited by the server. I don't see the server having any issues right now, so is it even possible to up that? When I go to a city I cant see the extent of it, which kind of ruins the entire point of making something huge if no one can see it. If the server can't handle it, the server can't handle it, so if that's the case I could understand. Thanks for reading!
probably wont happen increasing the view distance will allow for more chunks to be loaded at once and could cause lag. Also i currently dont have a problem seeing big buildings make sure your view distance is on max and clouds are off /fly also helps.
If your view distance is set to a value greater than the server's chunk load distance, then you should be able to see even what is currently unloaded, provided that that area was loaded earlier. I mean. Say the server distance is 4 chunks, you want to see at 8 chunks distance. If you just stand in the middle, you will only see at distance 4. But, if you move around the area having the chunks loaded, and then you go in the middle, you should still be able to view far away, even though those chunks are not loaded anymore. I surely can do this, actually. I'm just not 100% sure that it only depends on the viewing distance setting: maybe I tweaked some other config a long time ago, but I can't recall.
View distance doesn't lag the client as much as it lags the server. The server has to send and render all those extra chunk updates. This is something we'd have to consider in many, many months. Well past skyblock being stable.
I understand I've run servers before and my view distance was always 4 chunks because of lag lol. If you do ever get stable enough usage, with extra unused power I think this could be a great use for it. Also thanks for the lightning quick response
