Hi, so first we are going to make ourselfs a few pickaxes. what kind? that does not matter. but you have to have an iron pickaxe to mine diamond. so then we are going to mine down to layer Y:10 (you can see this by pressing "F3") then make your beginning like so: Do not forget to mine 3 high. so now i made this little pattern on how you can mine from you "Endpath" make this pattern like so: NOTICE: You can always make the paths as long as you like. (little example) this is a good way to find lots of diamonds. i always used it and it always gave me good results. Golden rule!: NEVER! dig straight up or down
If you spread your tunnels two cells apart instead of 1, it covers more space, and still has the same effect. Your tunnels only need to be 2 high, since your starting at depth 10, and diamonds appear at depth 12. And when you finish mining an area, you can dig your tunnel down 4 cells to depth 6 and then mine 2 cells below the above tunnels. This strategy covers the maximum area without missing any diamonds.
i am verry certain that diamonds start to appear at lvl 16 and below. this is proven so many times. and what u say about that u can go under your tunnels is true, but you"ll have more problems with lava.
great theroy, but something to add, mine a tunnel skip 2 blocks, then mine another tunnel, cause then u see more stuff, think about the walls
Ive gone and dug under and to the sides of everyone's tunnel paths and found diamonds, its so funny how everyone walks over the diamonds and fails to find them. Follow everyone's dug path and dig next to it or under it, you'll find diamonds.
I realized that mayors could open layers 30 and down to open excavation. And the people sell the ores to the mayor. Just a thought.
Just saying... if you put two blocks of stone between each mined out pillar, you expose same ores less work...
I have to agree with rabidworm on the 2 block rule. This type of strip mining has allowed me to join the server and post a resident app in under 4 days (not a speed record or anything, but it has been fun). You do make a lot more money renting or working on a farm but to me there is just something more fun in finding random wealth in the wild. I do however plan to buy land soon and of course start a farm lol. Mining is more fun but to become mayor and then president I'll need to explore every option to make the most money. RagMan
This is an old post but it's missing a key piece of information. BELOW YOU'LL FIND THE AVERAGE DIAMOND DISTRIBUTION FOR A RANDOMLY GENERATED MAP. Vertically we can see the Y axis from 15 to Bedrock. Contrary to popular belief diamond will rarely be seen on Y axis 16 and almost never the center of the vein but if we head down too far we eventually pass a threshold where lava will spawn almost in lakes as we've all seen. This Axis begins at Foot Level 9 (If your Y axis reads 11 than your foot level is 10) So staying at Y:11 will keep you much safer than Y:10 as you will never have a lake engulfing that sweet sweet armor of yours. Now beware there are cases where in Ravines and near ocean biomes there will be 1-8 block wide lava falls that randomly generate everywhere. These are much more rare than the lava lakes but they do occur. Just listen carefully and you should be able to avoid these with ease. The only time someone branch mining should ever dip below 11 is to scope out the diamond veins they did not find in X/Z chunks above at 11. Another rule of thumb is there will more than likely always be a diamond vein in each chunk (16X16X "The Sky") but never more than one. Another method not used as much anymore is marking each chunk and hollowing. This is especially effective in ocean biomes with no signs of lava. Hope this helped!
