This is just a suggestion. Items needed: Book and Quill What to do: Write the contract down in the Book and Quill (remember the contract, see #4) Give the other party the unsigned Book and Quill Have them sign it after they have read and agreed to what is written in it (example: Title of book - AGREED, SIGNED, or whatever and the publisher of course will be the one to agree to the written contract) Get the book back and look over the contents to make sure the other party has not added or changed the contract (VERY IMPORTANT!) The holder of the contract must present to any mods, the signed contract in case of a dispute, as proof that a contract has been made and that both parties agreed to what is written (the contract then becomes precious......insert LOTR reference here) Reason for this: Hopefully, a better prevention of scams Better protection of both parties Once signed the contract cannot be changed and another contract can be used as a receipt that a contract was formed (whatever, don't ask, I just wanted to write more) To have another use for the Book and Quill I was bored and tired when I wrote this..........Do this, don't do this. Doesn't really matter. Have fun!
There is a loophole in this type of "contract". The user that signs the book can easily edit the text in the book, changing the agreement around.
Plus, the forum section for contracts... I can write airtight contracts if anyone needs it! (for a modest legal fee... )
I was also thinking when I went to sleep last night, about having a /kit contract so people don't have to always go looking for needed books. It would help, thanks again!
Hello, Please don't take this the wrong way, but, I don't think this idea is very good. First of all this means only one of the two involved members has to sign the contract which means that the other person involved could completely blow off their end of the deal. Our current contract system, the one on the forum, means that it is posted on the forum and cannot be lost, destroyed, or disputed. It also means that a staff member has looked over the contract and determined that the contract was properly written and that both parties have accepted it. I see way too many complications in having a written 'book' contract system. Lets say Andrewkm writes the contract as follows: "I, Andrewkm, will give Revanrose6 a loan of 30k and she will repay me 50k in 2 weeks." He hands me the book and I take it and in about 30 seconds change it to, "I, Andrewkm, will give Revanrose6 a loan of 200k and she will repay me 50k in 2 weeks." When a contract is edited on the forums, it is recorded and we can look at it as staff members. In the event a contract is changed, we ask the other party to resign before accepting it. I am sorry, but, I feel this system is just begging to be abused. Revanrose6
But with the book the person that made the contract could sign the other persons name on it so how would you prevent that? I'm sorry but I think the forums is better. Also revanrose6 had a point. Sorry. -1
You can't sign the book in someone else's name. After the title is made, the book is signed in your name. Have you tried to even use a book and quill? That's why it needs more uses, anyway the idea is not going to fly; so this is the last I will post here.
I think it's a good idea but it doesn't need to be that complex. One could simply write: ''Mr.X promises to pay the bearer the sum of 10 000 ecodollars on the 1st of December, 2013 or at any later date.'' Mr.X would be the author of the book. Then you could sell the book for 9000 or whatever. The advantage of doing loans this way is that they could be traded around freely.
