On the first pic it seems like if the 2nd story is bigger (width and lenght) then the first floor, is this the case? If so, I would suggest making 2nd stories (and 3rd, 4th, etc) as wide or long as the floor under it (or smaller). Maybe its just my opinion, but having higher floors wider or longer than the bottom floors looks weird. Here's what I mean (the mansion I'm building for EMU is a good example). I made the 2nd floor 1 block "smaller" all the way around, to give it a slick look.
with that one i was trying to copy a real life building it has an overhang in front where the second floor creates a lip outside the front. otherwise yes i agree same or smaller as below
