In this tutorial, I'm going to go over a list of frequently asked questions on the server. This will help answer some of your questions that you may have without searching over the Wikipedia a second time for the answer. I still highly suggest looking through the Wikipedia for various information, don't expect this thread to answer all questions. This is just a FAQ, not a copy of the wiki. The Wikipedia can be found here Question: How do I build? Answer: Type /spawn and go through one of the portals or gates found there, and keep going until you see "**Wild" in your chat. Question: Why can't I go past the "Edge of EcoCityCraft"? Answer: That's the border, it's indicated by the glass bridge you see in the sky. We have a border to prevent people from griefing the server by making the map huge. Simply just avoid that glass bridge, and you won't ever even touch the border. *Warning* Do NOT build up to/walk on top of the glass border, you can, and will be punished! Question: How do I gather resources? Answer: Just head to the wild by typing /spawn and going through one of our gates/portals. Then just gather them just like in normal Minecraft; punch trees, craft items, make tools, mine, etc... If you are new to Minecraft, I'd highly suggest checking out some tutorials, or looking at the official Minecraft Wikipedia here Question: How do I make money? Answer: Selling items is the most basic way. To sell an item to server, type "/sell <Insert item name here>" And that will sell all of the specified item in your inventory. For multiple words in an item name, such as Wooden Planks, you would type "/sell woodenplank" like that, as one word. Other ways to make money include selling to users, doing jobs for users, and winning various contests users might hold. All of these ways can earn you the currency called "EcoDollars" Question: Why can't I /sethome? Answer: "/sethome" and "/home" are commands given to Residents+ and donators of the multihomes/multihomes+ donation features. If you built far away from the spawn, and want to be able to get back to your spot, I can suggest you type "/getpos" to get your position, or just do the old F3 on your keyboard to bring up the Minecraft debug screen to check your co-ords. Question: How do I become a Resident? Answer: Resident costs $15,000 EcoDollars, after getting the money, you must apply here on the forum in the Builders+ applications section with the proper format found on the Wikipedia here, and have read the rules/been added to the Whitelist. Question: I heard this server had the Aether, can someone tp me there? Answer: Well, yes, we do have an Aether, but it's not like the single player mod, it's just a Skylands. No special blocks, no new mobs, just floating islands. However, if you still want in, then you will need to get $20,000 EcoDollars and make an application in the Builders+ section, just like resident. After that, you can type /spawn and head up to the top floor of spawn, and look around until you see a rocketship. Head to this and you will find a portal that takes you to the Aether. Question: How do I get to the Nether? Answer: Just like the Aether, you must get $20,000 EcoDollars and apply in the Builders+ section. You may then, type /spawn and head to the top floor and look around until you see a nether looking area with a Pigman and Ghast on top made out of wool. Head into that and you will find the portal to the nether. Please note; The Nether is currently not working, and is blocked off. It should work again by 1.9/Full release of Minecraft. Question: Someone griefed my house, will he be banned? Answer: Well it depends, where was the grief? and how big was it? If it was in the wild, there is almost nothing that can be done. If it was in a town, then it depends. Make a grief report with the mayors permission in the grief report section, and it will be looked at. Question: How do I get Whitelisted? Answer: Go to our Whitelist thread on the Minecraft forum and post an application in the correct format found in the first post here Question: Why can't I place Pistons? Answer: Pistons don't work because there are still duplication bugs, and they cause a lot of lag if used just right. Pistons may be added in the future, but for now, they can't be placed. Question: Why can't I use the "" face in the chat? It tells me to go sit in the corner! Answer: That's our caps filter. It only allows 25% of what you say to be in caps, so sadly, "" Won't work unless you put something in front of it. Sorry if this bugs you, but it's the only way to prevent people from using too much caps. Question: Can I be op? Can I be a Moderator? Can I be an Admin? Answer: No, nobody gets op just for asking like that. If you really want to be a Moderator, then you will have to have been on the server for a few weeks, then apply for Moderator here on the forums when applications are open. You will then have to wait while everyone gives opinions on the applications, until the Owner, andrewkm, makes a final choice, and picks the new Moderators. It's late at the time of making this, and it's a huge work in progress, so if you guys feel I should add something or clarify something, please reply and let me know!
I'm definitely enjoying this - Is there an upcoming video guide btw? I'd be interested in helping for sure!
I sadly, have no way to record a video. I'm not going to get a trial of Fraps or something of the sort either. So unless you can make the video guide, there won't be one D: I'm going to add some more things later to the list later today, and add stuff/change stuff in the existing ones to be a little more clarified and have more detail.
Sure, go ahead. Would be nice to have it in a place more people will read it. But before you do, I'll have to edit some things, some of them suggest you are reading the forums. Unless you want to fix it, then you can use it now. Edit: Done! It's going to be slightly different from this one on the forum, so here's the code. lol Halo. Sucks that you spent that much time then saw this. But hey, it happens. If I was on the Wikipedia team, I probably would have just added this if everyone else agreed, it would have saved you time. But I'm not. I would join the team, but I don't want even more work on my hands, even if it's not much. Plus, I'd mostly just be writing pages, because I'm not a creative person, and couldn't think of new pages to add. I also don't have a really big vocabulary, either. (That's not such a bad thing I guess, but still.)
O.K. D0rc i added it and gave you a page dedication here: http://www.ecocitycraft.com/wiki/index.php?title=FAQ_Builder_Questions
Feh, not a big deal to me, being part of the team means that you have to understand that this happens. I'll just fix up some formatting errors and such.
