Just make a private group chat or your own Discord server. No reason to make ECC's Discord server more complicated than it needs to be.
There's already 3 different channels for general discussion and 4 more that are for other things (though realistically can be used for whatever) and you'll barely see discussions going on in two channels, let alone three, at the same time. Private channels on discord would be an absolute nightmare to set up - the only feasible way I could see is if you have SAs set up permissions manually for each and every user who the channel "owner" wants to be able to join his/her channel on the go. Not happening. Besides, if members of a room don't want a certain user there by consensus, they can have a staff member remove them if they refuse to leave. That's a thing too.
