So... a full-body drawing of a cat, in the size of an icon (square)? o.o I'm a bit confused. I know, pb. I saw it when you sent it. :b I'm not going to be working on anything until next week.
I can send you some pics of my cat via Skype to use as a base model. I have him in several cute poses. Posing, curled up sleeping, in a box, etc... whatever would fit best in the square/icon sized limit.
Well, if you want to take the custom avatar application format and tailor it to your cat, that would be helpful. Links to pictures or sending on Skype is fine. I need to make some other examples for the thread before I start on people's art, though. Oh, and posted some links to my various art, too, if you want an idea of the styles I draw in. I can do it in the style of the Mojang avatars (like is on this thread), if you want a kinda-blocky cat; or in my normal style(s) (more realistic in proportions and such).
Based on the poll votes so far, most people think that the prices are too high.... Is that for the customs, templates, or both? Why do they seem high? I'm counting them at an odd amount (57.5k/1.25hours, up to 172.5k/3.75hours (customs)) that does look - and is a tad bit - overpriced, but I would like to say that it still balances out in the end. I will probably break it down/explain it more clearly, and not do that odd $$/hour amount. Spoiler: Price Explanation Look at it like this: 57,500 / 3 = 19,166.66. 19k is a an average-high farming income per hour. My average time spent on customs will be about 6 hours; 57,500 is about three of those hours, 115,000 is about six of those hours, and 172,500 is nine of those hours (which is unlikely for the customs). The range makes it look steep, but the likelihood for a custom costing 172,500 is low. How I see my prices to farming income is that my art takes a lot more work and effort than farming (which is mostly mindless, once someone has the tools/donation features). Just as a personal preference, I would like to make more than farming, as I am putting a lot more work in. However, I do realize that is very unlikely on ECC, so I am keeping my prices about even with farming. I do consider in the aspects of time in-game spent and real life work for donation features, etc - this is my form of it (as I am technically do my work in real life, although directly for ECC GiftCards, rather than cash). Hopefully it all makes sense. I just can't go much lower without "losing" money and wasting my time, but people have been asking me for art and I want to be able to supply it. EDIT: Updated/being revised on first post. Old price explanation and new are there.
A custom would be like Andrew's; a full commission process. Custom pose, custom hair, custom clothes... Custom everything. It would be done in a full-body and provided in full-body and in icon images. It can be you, your skin, your character, etc. Templates (sorry I don't have any up yet), will be premade lines, shading, and a couple of pose and hair options, and clothing options which I turn off and on (unless someone requests something specific and pays more, then I draw something new for them).
If you used the custom application format and were to pay that price and go through the commission process, yes.
MoofinK as opposed to a drawing of my RL self, would I be able to get one of a fictional character i.e.: Darth Revan.
If you put your own twist on the character, I can definitely do that. Simple design elements that make it your "own" of Darth Revan (the double-bladed lightsaber and red hair you have, for example) are good.
Well, "discussing" meaning "try to figure out what the votes mean, because no one is posting their actual thoughts." xP But yeah, the prices aren't set in stone yet. I'm thinking about lowering the templates a tad bit - or completely redoing how the pricing works - but I'm not sure on the customs yet. I need to make the templates + other example art to gauge how long it will take me on average to make them.
