Minecraft Username: spidawg Brief Description: the /seen command does not get your last logout time updated if the server is rebooted or shut down for maintenance. It simply shows you logged off whenever the previous record says, other than restart-related logoffs. This is especially important due to policies about lwc removals etc this could cause people to seem away from the server for longer than it should, lose rights to their towns for claims, etc. This can be particularly bad if there is a mojang auth server issue at the time the server restarts because you maybe not have time to wait to log back in. It's understandable that this can't be fixed for a crash but could be fixed for other situations. Instructions: stay logged onto the server during the next restart and have a friend perform /seen on you ign in your absence or use an alt account How many times did you recreate this bug?: no idea, quite a few Result: seen incorrectly reports your last seen time according to your last logout time other than logging due to restart Expected Result: seen should display the actual last time you were seen Evidence: n/a
FYI the other staff has said on numerous occasions that we're not supposed to "tag" andrewkm unless the post NEEDS his attention/response urgently.
He's a Dev, I don't think it counts But anyway, I've had this bug for a long long time now, doesn't seem to have large affects, but haven't observed it on someone who's been offline a long time before it happens. Only people that have been off a few hours.
Now that certain ranks have the ability to claim an inactive town, i believe it's extra important to put some attention towards this problem. Especially with very busy individuals or people that have other things going on in their lives. Frequent mojang issues auth server issues where you can't log in immediately after a restart, etc. The bug has been around for a long time but I've just never thought to fill in a bug report. At the very least bringing some transparency towards the issue can never be a bad thing. As a partial fix/compromise, essentials /seen command could also consider the login timestamp already implemented in the player.yml file
It's been happening a bit longer then that. I can't remember the first time I saw it, but it was a long long time ago. It's basically a server feature in my mind now
