Minecraft Username: 314 Brief Description: I sometimes don't receive any forum alerts from watched threads or even from being tagged. Instructions: Post on a thread (Automatically watches according to "Unwatch thread" option appearing at top) OR: Be tagged in a thread. How many times did you recreate this bug?: 1 for the being tagged (Was a town eviction, only found it by coincidence) and 3 times for new posts on watched threads. Result: Not receiving alerts every time, only sometimes. Expected Result: To be notified when a post is made on a watched thread or if I am being tagged. Evidence: N/A
This has happened to me to over the week, I forgot about it cause I thought it was a once off kind of thing EDIT: There must be bad luck or something it was the /tp not working now its alerts
Mhm...well, at least I received an alert for this thread. But I often don't get an alert when a watched thread is mod-posted on and then locked. Not even when I am tagged.
Hmm. As I do not have access to Xenforo's admin panel, @clou44 can look into this. It's likely a feature, but not listed, to save spam
It sounds like you need to change your alert preferences. Click your name in the top corner, then click "alert preferences" If you want to receive alerts for everything, make sure all boxes are checked. Let me know if that is the problem. @314
Hm...did that, all checkboxes except "When somebody attaches a file to a watched thread" were already checked. Activated it now, too...We'll see.
As for the town eviction, it's entirely likely that the person who posted it surpassed their 'tag limit' on the thread. There's a limit on how many people will be alerted when you mass tag in a post -- I know it varies by rank/staff rank/etc though I'm not sure of the specifics.
Hmm, I've checked the admin panel and it seems as though both @314 and @Danielman33 should be getting alerts. Not sure what the problem is.
I have the same problem as pi, I sometimes don't get alerts when I should but I have noticed a pattern. If you haven't actually clicked/looked at the thread in a while (not sure about exact time), you stop receiving alerts from it.
Doesn't that make big town evictions useless? Well, I usually click on all my alerts I recive, and still sometimes watched threads bypass the alert...
@clou44 if I get an alert for a thread and I do not check and a new post is made, I do not get a new alert for the new post or any further posts until I look at the thread again.
Same thing for me, @Gernen. @clou44 I think Xenforo is set so that if you don't check a thread for a new post, then it takes it as you don't care about it anymore or whatever and it no longer alerts you for anything.... I have studied a few websites that do the same I believe Enjin does the same thing.
Sorry for the bump but i also encountered this. Someone posted something and tagged me in it but for some reason i didn't get a notification. I checked to make sure they didn't add the tag in after they made the original post either.
That isn't a bump, that'S the reason why the help threads aren't locked. So it might be a rare problem, but existant nevertheless. Hm...
