Coming back again I see Anyway thanks for bringing this up relusto, You do indeed have permissions to enter the Aether, as for how you do is another story. We will look into getting this fixed for you as soon as we can.
Some people say there used to be a feature to grant travel access into all worlds once...Maybe it's that one?
Just tested this with @ferb24L (he didn't purchase aether access) and the server did the correct thing and said access denied
In addition to what has been stated above, Relusto has the promotion medal dated to when the medal was given to users who bought a promotion before Mar 19 ,2013, and there were a few times aether access was included in promotions in the past. In fact, after looking at the news post, their name is listed, sixth row from the bottom, second name from the right (Direct image link). So, with those two factors combined, I would say it is a safe bet that is how access to the aether was acquired in this case.
