WD-40 is corrosive. It is made out of mineral spirits and petroleum oils. The reason they say it isn't corrosive is because the mineral spirits evaporate. If you sprayed it inside the Ipod the mineral spirits may be trapped. I also think the oil will hold in the heat and could damage the electronics. Don't do this. If you ever take the screen off your Ipod you could easily just push the button back up. Apple will then charge only $20 to put the screen back on. It's a simple task. If all else fails and you do not want to send it to Apple enable the assistive touch (So you can use your ipod without the use of the power button) In settings go to General ---> Accessibility ---> Assistive Touch To light up the screen in the first place to unlock it and do the followng simply connect to Itunes. Hope I helped!
Try pressing the button down again very hard so that it comes back up, also if possible can you post a picture of it so we can see it? If that fails I recommend bringing it in to get it repaired
take some tweezers or a toothpick and try to get under the button to pop it up then never use the button again
Saw the button in half with a chainsaw, that way it will either come up, or you can reach inside and gently pull it up. Am i forgetting something? Oh yes, put some tape on the button when your done. It's now broken in half btw.
