I was talking with some admins asking if saying some certain cuss words are aloud, Answer was no. Then I asked if Some staff check the Chatlogs, Answer was no. (At least from Shadowpyrolily) So I thought if ChatMod existed, Finding those breaking the certain words about cussing and stuff would be easier. I can explain what Chatmod could have Rank Name: ChatMod Accessible Commands: Kick, Mute, Ban, Tempban (Maybe Nick) Rules the Rank must follow: No Abusing Powers, No talk a player into breaking the rules just so you can seem like a good staff busting them right after, Do not dis-respect players just because of the Power you have, All other rules apply to the Rank, Visible messages for Staff purposes only.
The negative thing about this 'rank' is that you have to make a list with words you may not say in chat. Every Chatmod will have to know that list. The thing why I'm saying they need a list is because every player needs to get the same punishment if they do something wrong. It wouldn't be right if someone swears with 'fuck' and he gets muted and when another player swears with it nothing happens because a different Chatmod thinks it's 'okay' to use. I think that a Chatmod rank isn't that necessary. Like @OLEARY07 said, /helpop is enough
Well, /helpop Can be used... But still, Even with it. I'd apply for ChatMod, I may not have the right reasons to get it convinced, But I have no problem going to server to server checking chat for fights, problems E.G and if I'm afk I can always check the Chatlog and /helpop could also check if a Chatmod is online and if there is, it will send it to the Chatmod first. If no Chatmod is on then it will send it to any other staff member online. I only think it deserves a chance because of a lot of cuss words going on and not being delt with... Since I see a lot of cussing on Creative (Not listing any names) but I could deal with it and stop it and clear things up... Since it's been going on for awhile now and no normal players bother to use /helpop and Some admins only take action if they see it when they're on the server.
????? Even if you have screenshot evidence or video evidence? and if no normal players bother to use /helpop does this not mean that these words/phrases don't bother them?
True, But then again. Who knows if a Little kid is playing and uses those words irl? or ingame leading that kid into punishment for not knowing what those words mean. In my opinion. I don't mind if Some players don't mind the words, But it's against the rules. Careless or not. It's not aloud..
Ok, this will most likely be my last post on here, A solution which doesn't involve a rank called ChatMod would be to put up more signs in spawn saying "Use /helpop if you see something that needs reporting, e.g Profanity or hacking", I know this is in place in SpaceBlock or maybe even use the Auto Broadcast plugin to put it up in chat?
The problem with chat logs is that it could be easily manipulated. Some staff do check it, but only if they really need to. Most of the commands that you mentioned are basically mod perms.
There are a lot of things said that one finds offense, and another doesn't. If you find something offense report it. We aren't here to police your every word.
Personally, I think this is a pretty good idea. though, a warning should be given first to a player who uses any word on the "list".
Well, For me atleast it could go like this (Spamming) : Warning - Mute (5-10-20 minutes) - Kick - Temp Ban and if they come back after spamming after Temp banned, They will be banned. Advertising: Ban. Advertising only is a ban because... Well.... That's just how Aem Rules go any hint of Advertising will lead into a Ban. Cussing, Inappropriate Words: Warning - Mute - Kick -Temp ban - Ban. (If Continued after Temp Ban) Similar things will happen for different things. About what Fats said though. You and some others may not Always handle it, But I would... So yea....
I thought mod had a bit more... No Need For Replying Anymore The Post Has Too Many "No need for it" So Yea...
If there was a chatmod Mods do have more commands I think if there is a chatmod they should not be able to give permanent bans, temp bans ok and notifying a mod or admin if it needs to be made longer,
Another problem that I see with chat mods is the fact that there is not a real starting point for them. They would need to have enough perms to be able to control chat, but for how many servers. Also, staff start on a server that they are comfortable on in terms of an environment, chat mods would not really get that.
