Sometimes it sets the town bank to zero, making it where at the end of the day, the town deletes its self. This means unless you play every day, there is a risk that your town will set its self to zero, and be deleted. They also do not refurbish any lost items or things that are lost to the bug. Including the 4k it takes to make the town.
Hm yea, not only losing over 4k, but hours put into a town sounds like an exhilarating time, and for the matter of the reset, I actually cant wait
