Which server were you banned on? Survival

Why were you banned from this server? I was badly griefed by two guys who moved in nearby. They destroyed my farms, ruined the irrigation, killed much of my livestock and let the rest run free and then opened it to the outside to let in the mobs. I only harvested their farms as retaliation, and purposely did not destroy >anything< as I did not want to grief them, only to let them know they had done wrong and that I was mightily annoyed. When I returned I found that I had been banned.

Why do you think you deserve another chance on the server? I have NEVER been tempted to do that before but they ruined a huge amount of my effort and forced me to rebuild a new shelter far away from them to avoid a repeat. Can I have another chance? I will settle grievances like this through admins in the future. I promise!

After checking the area in question, i'm willing to approve this appeal, but first I need you to show us that you understand what griefing is, and that you will tell staff about griefs in the future instead of taking actions into your own hands.

Griefing is considered breaking any blocks or placing blocks in an area that isn't owned by you and that you don't have the permission of the owner to interact with.

Please post something telling us that you understand the rules about griefing, and that you will use staff to settle issues like this in the future, thanks!

Also, be sure to post within the next 24 hours!

OK, I had a more narrow view of its definition, but I will definitely abide by a more general definition going forward. But that should also apply to actions against me too. The first time they came in they only took a small amount of crops and left a hole in the wall and I didn't regard it as damage worthy of complaining, but I will bring it up in the future even at that level. That might have actually prevented the sweeping grief they perpetuated the next day. What is the procedure for making a report? I have never done that before.

    Many thanks for your consideration!

You also killed their animals. I'm not the one that banned you however I was the one witness to you taking their crops. I PM'd you and asked you to replant when you borrowed from other people's farms. There was no response. I then watched you for a bit and followed you back to your place. You had a massive amount of animals under there so I PM'd you again and asked you to remove some of them as we are only alllowed 20 per chunk and there were many, many more than that. You never responded to me so I mailed an admin as I warned you would happen. They were gone when I checked the next day so I assumed it had been taken care of. Since Thoink is willing to give you another chance, I will be as well but please keep in mind there are other rules than just not griefing.

Sorry about not seeing your PMs, I don't use that very much. My aim was to show them how it felt to lose their crops, animals and have mobs on the loose as that is exactly what they did to me - but they destroyed my structures too. I delivered their lesson without wreaking *any* destruction of their structures or farmland whatever. I did set some snow golems loose too but that was just a lark.

Note that I originally had to move to that particular location to get away from constant griefing at my previous site. I found a site that was well away from any other active efforts and developed it - it was with much chagrin that I saw them move in nearby, and when they begin griefing almost immediately.

I'll keep the animals down to the limit in the new site that I started a couple of thousand blocks from those known griefers, and well away from any activities that I could spot. I killed off all the animals and put the old site in a state in which the perps will not be able to easily use it for their own ill gotten gain. It might be a good idea to put them on a watch list if you have such a thing. I'll read the rules too - and follow them - as it has been some time since I joined the system and it has gotten a bit hazy.

Thanks for letting me vent and for another chance as this has been my favorite server so far and I may be there a while.

Thanks for your understanding in this, and as sica said, be sure to do /rules or read the rules at spawn again just to be sure that you understand everything.

Thanks for the response, and welcome back to the server!
