He might have lagged out, because right before a lag out, you take no knockback for like 5-10 sec depending on how fast you get kicked out.
yeah, same if ur lagging very badly. once i didnt even see the guy move and he suddenly teleported to me and killed me
It isn't uncommon for this hack to be used, and the way he left right after you called him out it really wouldn't surprise me, but i havent ever thougt about lag being the cause before.
Innocent because in order to leave the game he would have had to go into his esc menu and disconnect, u cant sneak while doing that and he wasnt moving. the only other way would to press alt+f4.
