I'm looking to be staff and I have a few questions. I'm mainly going for Mod and i'll build up from there. Can Staff play on the servers like KitPvP? Can you spawn things in if you're Admin? Kids on the server ask for a 1v1 but he doesn't have gear, can I give him gear to fight me and when we're done I take the gear away?
Hello! I'll go ahead and respond to all your statements concerning staff. Short answer: Yes Long answer: Staff are expected to actively play the server legitimately like every other player. We are players on AEM, just like you. What makes us different is the title and the responsibility of keeping the server safe. Yes. However, you should not be spawning in items for your personal gain, or to get you or another player an advantage over other players. We rarely use commands that spawn in items, and the only reason for this is because we play fairly like everyone else (seriously). Staff are expected not to exploit their permissions to gain a competitive edge over other players. Being staff does not make it okay to unethically use commands like these. Absolutely not. Item spawning commands are for serious usage, not to get a knack out of creating an OP set of armor or a fun class to fight with. [As staff] we hold each other accountable that we follow a strict policy here on AEM. Staff are here to set an example. Spawning items for your own enjoyment (and even worse, giving it to others for no reason) is a strict no-no around here. I hope this clears up some questions you had. Cheers~
I know I'm not involved in this in anyway but I'd like to say thank you because you've clearly put a lot of time and effort into responding to his question and I respect that
I just wanted to add that all actions on the server are on record and staff members are randomly checked to make sure that abilities aren't being abused for self-gain or harm to others.
Staff have already responded that this is rarely used, but I thought I might as well add an example. One of the few times this is used is for things such as replacing the /warp shop anvils on survival.
If you want to apply for staff, go make a staff application under the tab APPLICATION FORMS and it will be reviewed by staff to see if you're a good candidate for a staff position. Make sure you have 10 meaningful, non-spammed forum posts, however. Hope this helps!
The reason people are asking is because on the staff app it says "Helpers must be 15-16 Mods must be 18 possible 17" and they are taking apps for both it says.
Actually it says we highly prefer players to be that age in the Staff FAQ (You can click the link to that on my signature to review it once more) Because when it comes to being staff, maturity is a must. I will be updating the FAQ frequently when I get more information so please do check that out. I've added more staff requirements there if you havent seen it. Everyone wants to be staff because they think it's all fun and games when in fact it can be pretty hard, you will not have much time to play on your own, you have to deal with all kinds of players even if they are annoying you. You can't abuse your powers (for those who are power thirsty, give it up) You have to dedicate majority of your time to the players, that's what being staff is about. We only need mature players who can handle situations like that and won't run away from it.
Very good questions @Jack N I also am trying to get Helper on kitpvp. I am Overlord rank and a very active player when the server was up. It's good that I got the answer to these questions as I was soon to ask the same if I was accepted.
