EDIT: Poll has ended, stay tuned for a further announcement with more information!

Hey AEM'ers. Thank you all for participating in the first ever AEM Build-Off, with the theme being the next Survival Spawn. In case you didn't know, the Survival Server will be reset and updated to 1.11.2 in the near future.

Until then, we have looked at all of your builds and have limited down the competition to 3 finalists! The Staff have done their part; now it is your turn. Below, you will find [Spoilers] that you can click for each of the finalists that contain screenshots of each submission. We encourage you to also log onto the Creative server and check out the builds within Minecraft to really get the whole experience (/warp buildcomp). We have also written brief summaries of each of the submissions. Take a look!

    CR7Joyce
@CR7Joyce decided to take advantage of single-player and sent us a world download for their submission. Joyce's spawn features a circular build surrounded by custom landscaping. Around the spawn, a river separates the surrounding cliffs and the spawn itself to create an elegant view from the bridges that lead out. The spawn features a centerpiece connected to several chains that hold the building together.

    Gehy
@Danny Von Monroe (Gehy) took an all-too familiar (but amazing) approach to his spawn submission. Danny's spawn, with its wide ceilings and all the essentials within, holds together all your needs within one, magnificent and solid building. The spawn, with its red trim, stays true to the colors and overall theme of AEM. This massive building is eye-candy when given proper terraforming.

    PokeSonicMario1
@PokeSonicMario1 decided to spread out the utilities of the spawn in a village fashion, hosting several medium-large buildings, a castle, and a hot-air balloon at the very top. The castle features a throne that overlooks a wide courtyard, fit for a king. Additionally, the paths around the spawn feature AEM themed street names that are named after several staff members and the server itself. (I see what you did there).

    PvpJamy
@PvpJamy's spawn gives users the comfort of a tiny village that has a large character. Featuring custom terrain and medium-small buildings, Jamy takes the usually large spawn and makes it work on a smaller (and cuter) level. The spawn features all the essentials of every spawn, but adds on by placing armor stands that enact the everyday activities of villagers going about their everyday work. Solid build overall.

Be sure to choose carefully, as the winner's spawn will be used on the new Survival reset AND the winner will be taking home a donation coupon worth $50-75.

    Good luck,

I can, but Joyce's build is not the complete one, unless they pasted it somewhere else other than her plot

Not sure if Joyce's full build was pasted... @pokeball92870

My full build didn't fit on a plot, I started a bit to try if I could make something of it in a smaller version. But that wasn't an option for me. I hope they can paste my build somewhere so people can have a look at it.

      Having trouble deciding?

      Here is my critic review:
      (may offend)

      CR7JOYCE
      -

Build: The building isn't squarish, as you know minecraft is all about blocks so.. thank god.
You can see how detailed it is, some 3D effects to give the build a little pop and not a flat-feel to it.
Inside has colors, vibrant and contrast, it mixes well with the green grass, soft on the eyes yet catching to look at.

Surroundings: The terrain fits very nicely, normally people wouldn't think to put in that much effort into their surroundings as they want their building/spawn to stand. Sometimes having work on it will ruin what you've made but in this case, it just comes together like a painting. Beautiful.
The river is a nice touch.

Overall: It's beautiful, complicated yet pulled off nicely but I think the flooring pattern could be worked on a little more.

      GEHY -

Build: I like the structure of the building, it's popped up with blended colors, like a mansion you would want to live in.
Inside patterns are simple, spacious. Looks like he thought of it for awhile and managed to execute it without over complicating it.
It is well-made but the insides are missing a little something to really stand out.

Surroundings: Well there aren't really any since it's built on a limited area - would have liked it better if there were some terrains to compliment the hard work.

Overall: The exterior is wonderfully made, just a little torn with the insides.

      POKESONICMARIO1 -

Build: Seems like you wanted to create something medieval with the castle yet it's not the same with the other houses nearby.
Individually, I think they are well-made.
Some houses are too square for my taste since we're always being surrounded by squares.
Would have loved to see something else unique .

Surroundings: The thing about building more than one builds is that they have to look good yet hold their difference when placed together. That wasn't executed well here. It looks messy and I don't think that's what the builder was going for.
The hotair balloon was beautifully made, I like that the most out of all things built in the plot.

Overall: It could have been a great build but it just doesn't go well together.

      PVPJAMY -

Build: Not only does it look nice individually, it looks great when it all falls into place.
It is very simple and that's a good point for this build, well done.
To keep the simplicity while adding more than 1 build can be a challenge for some, every building is different yet pleasing to see in every turn.
From a higher angle, It would be better if there were some color contrast and blending to make it really pop out, to suddenly see some checkered patterns in a corner would come off as weird if it's not a blended well together like a mini-shopping area. The same goes for the beacons, sudden lights in one area only.. perhaps place some to make it more even out and natural looking.

Surroundings: The trees crowding around in one spot is a little hard to get but overall, it's pretty nice.
Would have loved to see more volume in the terrains.
Love how you added a river streams, it compliments the village, perhaps a small well would make it more natural.

Overall: Simple and lovely, would have liked it better if some areas were fixed.

Honestly I can tell mine wasn't so great. I thought the same thing, but my abilities were lacking, and I ran short of time for touch-ups. I had no hope making the surroundings, as I simply cannot(I have some disability or something) make organics. Upon closer examination, when I attemped to clone one the houses, I accidentally tilted it, same when I tried to move the community center into the 150 x 150 limit. When I got my build moved to the server plots, my building started going downhill. Boxy and small, a good bit. Although I made an Easter Egg in the map, but no one found it... Then again, you needed access to use pressure plates, buttons, and levers to find it. Overall, I'm just glad I made it to top 4(What happened to 5?). Maybe I can apply this experience to my next work. Thank you.

I have never said that I made the whole thing myself. I got a build from a friend of mine and I edited the inside of the build to make it a spawn.

In the thread where has been the announcement for the build competition, there was not mentioned that it was not allowed to edit a building. It didn't say that you had to build the whole building yourself.

If the staff decides to take me out of this, that is up to them. I won't go in any further discussion about it, but it was just not mentioned that it was not allowed.

It was however a build competition, where you build your own builds, it should be sort of known not to copy/take another build and get credit for something that was mostly not done by you. It's not fair for other people who spent time and thought on their builds to lose to someone who didn't. Just my opinion, sorry :I Not tryna be rude or anything ._.

It's your view on it and that is fine. They can take me out if they want to, like I said.

I don't know about everyone else, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good everyone's was! Good job to everyone who took part and especially the top 4. I personally voted for Danny as it is fitting with what we have seen before for a survival spawn however it looks so grand, I love it.

Sorry for the lack of communication on our part. For our next build competition (if we have another), we'll be more specific with the wording within the rules. Thanks for being a good sport and sticking through with this, nobody's at fault here. ;)
