    Hey guys,

I have a few choice words as well as concerns for the new ClearLag implemented a few days ago in SkyBlock. For the sake of my concerns being heard, I will keep the choice words to myself.

Today, I was in my storage room, standing in front of a chest I had accidentally broken as well as the contents of said chest. Before I could even go into my invent to grab a new chest to put up.... BOOM ClearLag trampled by and I lost everything that was unable to fit into my full invent. I was annoyed, of course, but luckily the items weren't very valuable, were easily replaced, and I have the $$ to replace them if I so desire. BUT it got me thinking...

What if I had been a new player? What if I had just started my island, just finished picking up everything, and had gone to move my chest down to bedrock level and all or some of my stuff was sitting about because it wouldn't all fit into my invent? Then here comes ClearLag (possibly a program I don't know too much about since I just started) and boom, almost everything I have is snatched away! I know I would be mad, frustrated, shocked, and possibly not really wanting to play after that. :(

Now I know that if someone plays for any length of time, they get to know ClearLag VERY well and not always for good reasons. Personally, I use it as a garbage system now. :p But for others who may not know it as well, who have limited resources and $$, I would like to ask the devs to reassess the parameters. I am not a dev, so I don't know anything about programming or what can and can't be tweaked, but I would like to suggest maybe making ClearLag just a BIT less aggressive. So that maybe things a player are standing right next to don't get taken? I know ClearLag is supposed to help keep the game running smoothly and it works very well... perhaps just a bit too well? o_O

Thanks for your time guys :D

I was thinking maybe if something was dropped, let's say 20 seconds before clear lag, it wouldn't get taken, but everything else would. I'm not sure if that's possible or really hard to do, but it would be helpful

I heard with the old clear lag that items that were recently were not taken by the clear lag. I dont know
why they removed the old clear lag? But in my opinion it was somewhat better as it solved the
problem discussed above. Although I know next to nothing about programming this seems like it is
    the better option.

I don't think the old clear lag even worked tbh.. When there was 60 people on it was saying "5 entities have been removed" or something like that

That's why I suggested tweaks, not getting rid of it altogether or anything.

From my understanding, it's on a timer so it just rolls through when it rolls through. It may be inconvenient sometimes but the server does notify you beforehand.

Not to be rude Volkrot but I don't know if it is like you say since your staff you get more but I being a normal player only get the 60 + 20 second warnings. I also asked vertigolf ig who has played for a while :D

After posting this I went back and watched it and took screenshots it is only 60 + 20

well the 60 and 20 is still a large warning area in which you can clear items on the ground

Yeah it is but if a bunch of people are talking you don't see the 20 there is no 10 and 5 or say 3, 2, 1 Second you won't see it

I also only get two warnings and have been planning what I do around ClearLag. Before I do anything, I go back in the chat and make sure the warning hasn't come up yet and then farm or do whatever I need to do. I don't always remember to do it, but hey that's my own fault.

My biggest concern is for accidents or unexpected deaths. Things you can't plan for. And also for newer players who don't know about ClearLag or may be unfamiliar with it. I was told yesterday that a new player who has this happen to them will learn their lesson and not do it again. I thought that was slightly insensitive, and, though I know that I learned my lesson the first time, I still run into issues with losing items.

This thread certainly wasn't meant to badmouth ClearLag, (I LIKE ClearLag usually, it's a great garbage system) just a place to voice some concerns and/or suggestions. I know nothing about programming ergo I know nothing about ClearLag or the mechanics of it so I don't know what tweaks are or aren't possible. I was just asking and bringing up my personal concerns.

If tweaking is not possible and this is how ClearLag will be from now on, well then that's the way it is

Tweaking could always be done, just alot of work and time for a person who knows the code/plugins.
